Did you hear about the church that has been forbidden by the NFL to have a Super Bowl party and show the game on a big screen TV?

Yes it was two games ago and distorted out of proportion.

Establishments have to follow specific rules when it comes to things like sports broadcasts, background music, fees and so on. In particular, the 55-inch rule that people love to quote on the case. It's a rule for establishments, not the home. Basically the rule is that the game can't be shown on a set larger than 55 inches, on more than 4 screens and no more than 6 speakers with no more than 4 in any room.

You also can't charge for admission, which is really what caused the NFL to react. Bar's don't charge admission to see the game, they make money off of food and drink and they follow the other rules. The church was charging admission and their projection was bigger than 55 inch.

For what it's worth they later changed the rule to allow churches to show it, namely the 55 inch rule. You still can't charge admission however, but a way around that is have a fee covering the costs of food.

Your link did not work and your article is way out of date. The NFL has generously developed a compromise with churches on this matter, as described in the link below, which should work:

So let's give credit to the NFL for its action.
