Hi Bill, We seem to have a similar opinion on the subject except for the whole thing of trying to define if a person was really ever saved in the first place along with trying to guess the what quantity and frequency of any particular sin, in the eyes of God constitutes the difference between a lifestyle and a period(s) of weakness. I do believe that a homosexual can enter Heaven just as easily as a glutton, drunk, adulterer, a gossip, or any other type of sinner of which all of us are. I really wish that the Church in general would reach out to and welcome gays, that is not saying that we should claim that gay acts are no longer detestable but we don't have to cram it down their throats all the time that what they are doing is a sin. Gays should be made to feel as welcome in the Church as anyone else except that they just the same as divorced persons and couples who live together without being married should not hold leadership positions in the Church. That is not me being hypocritical, I have been divorced and remarried and although I would do about anything for my Church, I would never try to become a deacon because my past disqualifies me.

First of all I didn't "latch" onto it. The link to the story was on a news site where I was reading something else. Now then, show me the post I made claiming that the story meant being a christian turns people into child molesters. From some of the comments I see when you guys respond to these stories it sure turns a lot of you into liars.

First of all I never implied that you were claiming Christians to all be child molesters and you know it, I just figure that's coming, I see a lot (not all but a lot) of the atheists on here who love to exaggerate their claims and to spew as much hate towards Christians as possible. Another is that there is not a post that I have ever made on here that is untrue and nothing that could have given you reason to think I was being dishonest. I am not sure if you were making reference to me with the liar comment and if you were not not then I apologize.

That is true that all people, including gays, have the right given to them by God and by the Declaration of Independence -- "that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" --  under the laws of our country.

 

However, that does not mean that when one group decides it wants to live a lifestyle that is contrary to those laws -- those laws should be changed.  No.  We do not change our laws to fit those who wound denigrate our society and our American way of life.  The Constitution and the laws of America were written to assure equal justice for ALL AMERICANS. 

 

When a minority group decides that it wants to change the laws of America to accommodate their aberrant, society-destructive lifestyle -- then, "we the people" -- not just "we the few in a minority people" -- must take a stand and tell our government that we not want that destructive, aberrant lifestyle given credence through changing our established laws of America.

 

Today, until Obama changes it or we vote him out, we all have the same right of marriage.  We can all marry the person we love, of the opposite sex, anytime we want.   Of course, two men or two women should not be allowed to marry -- just as Farmer Jones and his beloved sheep should not be allowed to marry -- or just as Grungy Joe and his neighbor's six year old child should not be allowed to marry.

 

Within the whole society's norm, not just the minority society's norm -- we all have the right to marry.

 

NO SPECIAL LAWS for that small minority who wants to bring destruction upon our society -- even if Obama is the First Gay President.

Bill strolls in to post, yet again, his idiotic "objection" to same sex marriage. The bible "says" a lot of things. One thing we can claim is that your god was against people marrying outside their race. I mean after all, he did destroy the tower, scatter people and give them different languages so they wouldn't be able to communicate. I might be mistaken but seems like I read somewhere that in some places they used that as part of their excuse to ban marriage between blacks and whites. 

 You, like others before you that used that horrible book to oppress people, just pick and choose what you want that bible to "mean" according to your own twisted beliefs. This thread is NOT about how bill gray feels about homosexuals marrying. Goodness knows you've made no telling how many threads about it. You're strangely obsessed with it. This thread is about a so called "christian" church full of adults laughing and applauding a toddler that is standing in a church singing his little song of hate. But I'm pretty sure that had you been there you'd have been laughing and applauding the loudest.

the bible says don't eat shell fish or pork, but i bet each of them will chow down on a bbq or a slab of ribs... or a plate of fried shrimp or oysters! what do anyone's religious views have to do with the next person? christians are always talking about their "person relationship with god"... well, keep it that way, personal. i suppose when another religion is in the majority, such as Muslim, beheading gays and christians will be the new law, since we're going to allow religion to legislate morality!

A church in Indiana said it does not condone hate in the wake of a video, apparently shot inside the church, that shows a child singing "ain't no homo going to make it to heaven"—to the delight of a cheering congregation.

The video surfaced last week on YouTube. According to CNN's Belief Blog, about 20 people gathered outside Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Greensburg on Sunday to protest. Late last week, the church posted a statement on its website addressing the controversy:

The Pastor and members of Apostolic Truth Tabernacle do not condone, teach, or practice hate of any person for any reason. We are a strong advocate of the family unit according to the teachings and precepts found in the Holy Bible. We believe the Holy Bible is the Divinely-inspired Word of God and we will continue to uphold and preach that which is found in scripture.

According to Time magazine, church members "ratcheted up security" following reports of death threats aimed at pastor Jeff Sangl over the video, though a local sheriff later said he was unaware of such threats.

The video and is the latest in a series of church videos featuring anti-gay speech—a response, in part, to President Barack Obama's historic public support for same sex marriage.

Last month, a North Carolina pastor delivered a homophobic sermon that suggested rounding up all "*****s and homosexuals" and quarantining them inside an electric fence.

"I figured a way to get rid of all the lesbians and *****s," Charles L. Worley told worshippers at Providence Road Baptist Church on May 13. "Build a great big large fence—50 or 100 mile long—put all the lesbians in there. Fly over and drop some food. Do the same thing with the *****s and the homosexuals, and have that fence electrified so they can't get out. And you know what, in a few years, they'll die out. Do you know why? They can't reproduce!"

"It makes me pukin' sick to think about," Worley added. "Can you imagine kissing some man?"

A video of his comments went viral, drawing hundreds of protesters last month to the Catawba County Justice Center, 12 miles from the Maiden, N.C., church where Worley delivered his Mother's Day rant.

I should let Chuck be the one who replies, it appears he was only making reference to Old Testament dietary laws which are addressed and voided in the New Testament.

Well J, not to be judgmental or anything but I think you're guilty of over-analyzing what I said. You have no reason to imply that I have lied about anything and I believe that you know that. It was very clear that I had already seen the story before you had posted and wondered at the time when someone would post it. I will assume that someone will try and use what the guy did against Christians in general but they might think it's to easy with as much fodder as this guy left.

No surprise there. You're too busy telling me and other atheists that we will "bow" before your god, making negative remarks about atheists, and cheering on others that do that. IF you weren't so consumed with all the negative thoughts for atheists you would have seem MANY posts from me about the good christians I know.

You'd have seem me post that most of our friends are christians. You'd have seen me post that we are still in touch with the people we grew up and went to church with, and that we love them and they love us. You would have seen me post that they never did, and would never, preach/talk/spread the hatred the churches in these stories do.

You would have seen me post that I have nothing but love and respect for them. You would have seen me tell bill over and over that if I had any doubts about my atheism I would go to those GOOD people that truly do live, act, and talk to others the way people that call themselves christians should. So maybe it's YOU that should spend less time on the negative.

Seven that is why I completely ignore him. He is insane and dangerous. Take my advice and just pass up his crazy rantings. I am sure everyone here can see him for what he is. Most everyone on here knows who he is in real life and from what I have been told those that do steer clear of him outside this forum as well.

 

Crazy people can be dangerous. Stalking plus crazy can be lethal. Be careful.

You cannot reason with him anyway. Whatever mental defect or illness he has it appears to rule his every waking hour.
