A mainstream reporter, CNN’s Chris Cuomo, this week resurrected the question of Barack Obama’s birth certificate during an interview with newly announced Arizona Senate candidate Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

It happened because the sheriff’s Cold Case Posse, when he was in office, responded to requests from constituents to investigate, and the only formal law-enforcement review of Obama’s document concluded the document released by Obama’s White House as his official birth certificate almost without doubt was a forgery.

Cuomo asked Arpaio, “Was the birtherism a mistake?”

He accused the sheriff of being “part of a campaign to delegitimize a president of the United States.”

But Arpaio, as he has explained in the past, said his investigation wasn’t into Obama’s place of birth, only the document Obama released by the White House.

“I started this because of fake documents, government documents,” Arpaio explained again. “I didn’t care where the president came from. I didn’t care at all.”

His constituents had asked him for the review to ensure that Obama met the constitutional requirement of being a natural-born citizen.

“And we have the evidence,” the sheriff said. “Nobody will talk about it. Nobody will look at it. And anytime you want to come down, or anybody, we’ll be glad to show you the evidence.”

Questioned yet again by Cuomo about Obama’s document, Arpaio said it’s phony.

“No doubt about it. We have the evidence.”

Cuomo said a finding that a birth certificate was phony was the same as claiming that Obama wasn’t born in the United States, but that’s not necessarily the case. The era when Obama said he was born in Hawaii was a time when foreigners could obtain Hawaiian birth certificates.

CNN portrayed President Trump as the “biggest fanner of the birther flame” and noted that Trump said in 2016 he believes Obama was born in Hawaii.

Trump said, when the issue was grabbing headlines daily, that he didn’t know because he didn’t have evidence about Obama’s birth. He said there were many questions that needed to be resolved.

Trump did claim to have done the nation a great service by raising the profile of the issue and prompting Obama to release a document he said was a long-form birth certificate from Hawaii.

Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse, comprised of volunteer law enforcement professionals, examined the printed image that Obama released and found nine points that corresponded with another document, suggesting strongly a forgery.

The suggestion was that a computer expert had copied and pasted Obama’s information onto the birth certificate of a woman born in Hawaii about the same time.

WND reported this week Arpaio is seeking the Senate seat of outgoing Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who has been in multiple confrontations with President Trump.

Arpaio set up work camps for jail inmates and clothed them in pink during his decades as sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona. He also fought on the front lines of the war against illegal aliens entering the United States and sued Barack Obama over the issue.

What really goes on with the federal government? Read Andrew Napolitano’s warning that “It is Dangerous to be Right when the Government is Wrong.”

He said there are problems he wants to address:

  • “Sanctuary cities like San Francisco are literally refusing to hold illegal immigrants accountable for their actions, just to further their politically correct, pro-amnesty agenda.
  • “The once bedrock American commitment to paying our bills has been replaced by over $20 trillion in national debt.
  • “The liberal Left attacks the rights of law abiding gun owners – but doesn’t even bat an eye while so-called ‘doctors’ slaughter millions of unborn children in their mother’s womb every single year.
  • “Millionaire athletes are lionized by the fake news media as ‘heroes’ for disrespecting the American flag and refusing to stand for our national anthem.”

“Enough is enough. I’m running for Senate because I want America to be great again. I know this isn’t going to be easy. I know I’ll be attacked by the far left, the establishment right and of course, the liberal media. The media is going to say every nasty thing they can think of and try to break me. But, friend, I have never been one to shy away from a fight – and I can’t in good conscience sit back in retirement knowing that my grandchildren will inherit a country worse off than the America I’ve spent my entire life defending,” he said.

Americans born abroad typically receive a birth certificate from the nation they were born in.  Then, go to the US embassy or consulate for a  Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America (CRBA) to document that the child is a U.S. citizen. If the U.S. embassy or consulate determines that the child acquired U.S. citizenship at birth, a consular officer will approve the CRBA application and the Department of State will issue a CRBA, also called a Form FS-240, in the child’s name.
