As of the census[10] of 2000, there were 23,643 people, 8,433 households, and 6,611 families residing in the town. The population density was 686.7 people per square mile (265.1/km². There were 8,877 housing units at an average density of 257.8 per square mile (99.5/km². The racial makeup of the town was 96.12% White, 0.62% Black or African American, 0.09% Native American, 2.08% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.36% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.97% of the population.

Out of a population of almost 24,000 there were 917 non-whites in Pups beloved "non-racist" town.  It is easy to have no racial bias when there is no racial diversity.  And while there may be no racial bigotry in New England, just try to get the Irish and the Italians to go to school together.

And it is funny that Best has highjacked her own thread.

Ah, but the Donohues, Kavanaughs and the DiMuzios and Morgantis got along splendidly in school there, right alongside the Tolstakovs, the Szigetis,  Kavaliauskases, Haras, Shihs, Naeems, Trangs and Ramabushanams.  So do atheists and christians- mainly because noooooooooobody cares.

I only knew *one* guy named Jones.  Go figure.  Here *flipping everybody* is a Jones...

Mebbe ya keep confusing Connecticut with Jersey? (There is a Ridgefield, NJ and last I knew it was pretty much divided along ethnic lines)
