some "wintery mix" precipitation is falling in west colbert co. and parts of lauderdale co.

The best snowfalls seem to be the ones they don't predict.

and yes, the best snow are the ones that don't get predicted. the high for today is supposed to be around 45.

Very light snow/ice from Russellville to Spring Valley. Pellets started about there. More slush (I thought) when I reached Muscle Shoals, but ice on bridges and overpasses.
O'Neal Bridge - saw only one valve in the northbound lanes dispensing de-icing material. Left lane mainly covered. Sidewalks in Florence covered, as was my back porch and steps.
I thought the de-icers had been checked on the bridge, but apparently not. Our tax dollars at work.

it's still snowing here. it has covered everything. i'm near the old "4-way stop" on hwy 72.

Will someone explain the logic to me of closing everything down in 4 counties when it's 8 degrees outside and sunny but when it's actually snowing and most of the roadways are actually white we're all open for business and our city schools are open as well?
Lauderdale County schools just announced that they are CLOSING. I've also received reports that O'Neal Bridge is CLOSED, as is HWY43S in Littleville.
I live in Sheffield, we're getting snow here, the garbage trucks are still running. I haven't heard anything about Sheffield City Schools but My son isn't going today anyway he's not feeling well.
Oh yeah, and apparently my dog needs to go out but everytime I open the door he looks at me as if to say "Are you crazy, I'm not going out there.?

Anyone else live out toward Ford City? It is real bad out here. I'm waiting to see if it stops before getting out. What are the roads like going to FLorence?

Don't count on getting to Florence if you have to go on the O bridge. It's closed.

And city officials and county leaders. Wrecks everywhere...oh wait, maybe when it stops snowing and icing and starts raining and warms up to 50 they'll close everything because the temps might drop to 32 overnight when everyone is asleep.
