I was hoping that Len Gregory would win. Even though I'm not surprised that May won, I am surprised that Len only got 27%. I'm also surprised that Don Terry got as much as he did with 14%.
Wonder what the 59% that voted for May see that I don't?

Your guess is good as mine. I am really confused about the whole election in general. What does it take to get someone elected? Is it who you know? Or a money factor? Len worked extremely hard as did other losing candidates that I thought would have done much better. I saw a lot of support and heard of a lot of support for candidates but it didn't seem to show in the votes today.Did people just not get out and vote?
I have to agree. It think most people who voted lived in town(being policed by the city police office) and really didn't see how the county is being policed. I know that there was a meth house close to us. We reported it and reported it. Finally got in touch with the paper about it. Low and behold, the sheriff busted them and had a nice photo shoot with tv and everything.
This is what Len Gregory put on his facbook page.

Everyone, I can not put into words how grateful I am for your support and the hard work that everyone put into my campaign. It was great getting to meet everyone across our great county. It is always very hard to beat an incumbent. In the last election over 21,000 people voted and this election just over 8,500 people voted. Once again, thank you so much for your support and friendship over the last several months.

This is what Len put on Don Terry's facebook page.

Mr. Terry, I would like to thank you for running an honest and clean campaign. We both want the same things. We want our community to be safe from drugs and crime. We both believe community policing is the way to solve a lot of the problems in our county. Deputies must become one with the citizens and fight crime together. Once again, thank you for running an honest and clean campaign.

Here is the numbers from the last election. About 21,000 people voted for superintendent out of 24,442 votes cast.

Hard working home owner in the Jarmon Lane area? LOL Ok granted there are some good people that live out there, how do you know it was one of them that got broken in to? How do you know it wasnt one of the drug dealers that got their home broken in to? I would put money on it being the latter of the two scenarios. Please dont jump to conclusions before you know all the facts.
As a Len Gregory supporter, I was very disappointed in the election outcome. To answer one of rolltidequeen's questions, I do believe in Colbert County it IS about money and who you know. I have lived in this area most of my life and have never seen Ronnie May in person.. only on the front page of the paper when a murder occurs.
