We have Comcast HS Internet, but have basic cable. Digital and High Speed are mutually exclusive. Someone there obviously misled you.

Speaking of Comcast, I have digital cable with them, and late 2006 there was a great deal of talk about the new On Demand feature. Well, every friend of mine with Comcast digital cable now have a working On Demand option, and have since late December 2006. I hear it's a pretty neat feature. The freebie On Demand for digital subscribers is on Channel 1. However, mine is still not working. The last time I paid my bill at Comcast I asked the worker, and she said, "oh, I don't think it's going in all areas yet." She didn't sound like she actually knew what was really going on. I'm just wondering, is YOUR On Demand feature working? I'm beginning to feel kind of ripped that I'm missing out on this feature that so many are enjoying, while paying the same bill.

I work for Comcast, for now. The Florence Market should have On Demand available I believe, although it does time out and have errors quite often, even in this market. You do have to have at least basic cable to get cable internet. You can get the standard 13 or so channels for pretty cheap and that is enough for you to get internet. When I leave, I'll more than likely switch to dish & DSL. Comcast is just too expensive for what they offer.

There may be a $ sign there, but it's still free. No idea why that's there, but I know what you're talking about. Unless you see a price next to it you won't be charged. When you buy a movie, you'll get a confirmation window telling you that you are about to be charged for a movie. You have to click yes for the order to go through. When you get a free movie, you simply click on it and it will start playing.

Kindred,
The 001 channel is the channel with the free movies, as well as other free shows. If you do that, on the menu you recieve, you can also go over to "network show" and you'll see CBS. There you'll find CSI shows to watch. I thought I read that you liked CSI?
You can explore around and find many others like Discovery and others. On "Premium Channels" you should be able to check out the movies on Encore. It is a neat feature, but I think we are soon to be switching from Comcast to the dish and DSL becuase of the ridiculous rates that Comcast charges. Hope this helps you some.

I'm thinking about switching to satellite after a move next month. Just wondering about pros and cons of satellite. DirectTV or Dish?
