I have that package, and for the past few days i've been picking up about 10 extra channels. Are they having a free weekend promo of some sort? What i'm picking up isn't the new ones advertised as being added to limited basic.

How much is the limited basic and exactly what comes with it?

This is from the brochure Comcast gave me about a month ago.

Limited Basic:

3 Local Origination
4 WHNT (CBS) Hunstville
5 WZDX (FOX) Huntsville
6 CSPAN
7 WAAY (ABC) Huntsville
8 QVC
9 WAFF (NBC) Huntsville
10 WFIQ (PBS) Florence
11 WAMY (MY TV) Huntsville
13 WHDF (CW) Huntsville
178 ION*
201 WFIQ-CREATE (PBS) Florence*
202 WFIQ-IQ (PBS) Florence*
211 WHNT RETRO (CBS) Huntsville*
217 WAFF THIS (NBC) Huntsville*

*Additional equipment may be required.

Says Limited Basic is $15.50/month.
I would call and check again. My aunt has the Limited Basic plan for 15.50/mo and they recently required her to come down and get the new digital converter box and "assured" her there would be no change in her rates or channels. Now she has lost some of those channels and when she called, they said to get them back, she has to get the new digital basic package for [B]$55/mo! She is raising cain!!! Customer service said, so sorry you were misinformed but that is the best I can do, typical.
The only thing that previously prevented people from getting channels they wern't supposed to have was filters, and not every line had those properly installed or were still working, so it worked to you advantage if you were only paying for limited basic but was able to get full basic channels. It was basically a gray area that couldn't effectively be dealt with until now.

Going digital provides several advantages depending on what side of the field you are on. For the consumer, that's more channels and faster internet due to the reclamation of bandwidth, and for Comcast they can make sure everyone only gets what they've paid for, and save money sending people out connecting cable for installs (if you need a disconnect, electronically disconnect the box)

I can't get them to give me the limited basic. I asked and was told it didn't exist. I wonder if going down to the office instead of calling would be different.

You will have to go down to the office and talk to them. It's not published on the website or on the phone. You can also order economy for maybe $25 and get many more channels. I think they don't want you to know because they want you to pay for the more expensive packages.
