Does anyone else have problems with concast cable internet? Every few months mine is a crap shoot to wether I can get online or not. For the last week it will work for 5 minutes or 5 hours, I never know. I cant stand paying 60 bucks a month and can not rely on it. Kicker is it is better than dialup and DSL is not available where I live. Mad

Comcast is the only internet i've ever used..and last summer, i had the exact same problem you are experiencing..
when it kept happening, i would call to let them know i'd had a problem, which seemed resolved..then i began asking for a service truck, each time finding a problem, and each time fixing it..
when it finally was fixed, i called and requested credit for all my missed time..they gave me free internet service for several months..when that runs out, i'll be reassessing my options for another service...
the 'fixer' for me was a new line from my house to a junction box on a utility pole in the next block..they said that too many subscribers had been put thru too few lines, and when the usage got high, my service would lose signal...
We have comcast. I purchased my own modem, a Motorola SBG900 with the router built in. After initial set up it worked fine for a while but then started flaking out. The PC worked fine but the laptops had issues. I changed the channel the modem worked on and it eased the interference issue. The last week or so I haven't had a problem.
We had this same issue last week. They had some kind of Node or something out at the ball field? lmao

That's all I remember the dude saying, but anyways, they switched out cable modem out, and since they fixed that node problem at the ballfield, it's been working fine.

We probably should have been credited for the time we were without, we didn't even think of that. Smiler

That's one reason last week you didn't see me around too much. Smiler

Hope they fix it for you too, Imax

It has to do with how close you are to a switching station? or some piece of equipment. Downtown Florence got it first because BellSouth's main switches are down on Pine Street, I believe. I know it wasn't long after that Kendale Gardens and Indian Springs got it, but they were coming off the Killen station.

I understand that DSL has a distance limit.

just FYI-- comcast is having a regional partial outage right now, i can't hit wiki and all kinds of other sites from our business or my residential line.

comcast knows about it.

I wonder why they dont tell their customers when they are going to be doing that..... I have heard that comcast is cheating ppl with their high speed anyway....... If everyone would
check their connection speed they would know if they are getting ripped or not.....
