I don't want to get too involved but with all the comparisons of Belichick to Saban and what with the Patriots up for yet another run at the coming Super Bowl against Philadelphia, it almost seems a foregone conclusion that New England will once again win and waltz though through the game with a predetermined outcome. Personally, I think Philadephia will win this year even though I doubt I will be watching it. Since the "take a knee protest" I have yet to watch my first NFL football game so why start now?
Back to the comparisons. Mainly I look at Alabama and their winning ways over the Saban years and I can see where people could draw analogies between Alabama's college teams and the New England Patriots Professional team given their overall dominance year after year and given the two head coaches. Other similarities are the way many in the Sports media are hostile toward the two teams resenting, it seems, their accomplishments. Granted there are vast differences between pro and college play but Alabama can be said to be the New England Patriots of College ball and New England could be said to be the Alabama of the NFL. The thing is both coaches have similar programs and emphasis and both are complementary of the other. There will come a time when both teams find mediocrity or sub-standard losing seasons but when that time comes is anyone's guess.
I would think it would be more difficult for Saban to continue his accomplishments than Belichick at the professional level but they both have their own problems and obstacles to overcome. What is interesting to me is how you have two coaches, in two vastly different leagues, using a "process" similar in nature to the other and seemingly perfecting their game and yielding the essentially same results as the other. They just WIN! Thrilling their fan bases and continuing to irritate and aggravate their sports media detractors.
