These consertative writers are always high lighted in this paper. Gurwitz, George Will, and Cal Thomas are always emotional hard balling democrats. They can't think of enough good things to say about republican policy so they write negative articles about Democrats and this paper prints all of them.

I think it's great that any conservative has a voice in the media and I for one hope more conservative writers get their shot. It's just about to the point where you can't swing a dead cat at any news station and not smack a liberal in the head.

The majority of the population in the South is conservative, so I would hope that local news outlets cater more to the right.

The corporate media is dominated with conservatives with occasional middle of the road centrists who "play liberals" on TV. Jeff Cohen, a founding member of the media watch group FAIR, (www.fair.org) did spend some time in the corporate media and has written a book about it. There have been some excerpts in the Truthout site (www.truthout.org)

The news is also slanted in the stories they cover and the way they are presented to promote corporate views. Opinion pages are very important and people look to them for insight. Same with TV and radio talk shows. They are dominated by the right wing.

It is important to get other opinions besides just those high paid pundits that are brought to us by corporations. I suggest people checkout the independent progressive media.

If someone is going to check out the progressive or left media, they should also look at the conservative or right media. It's important to get both sides of the issues and decide for yourself. Question both sides because both have a little bit of fact and lots of opinions in what they call news. News is like a court room, would you want to be tried by a jury when the judge only allows the prosecution to speak? Would that be considered a fair trial? Of course not. A jury has to hear both sides equally and judge for themselves using logic and reason. With today's news, the issues are on trial and you are the jury.

Now days, you have to dig for the truth and find it yourself. Simply relying on one side or the other for information will leave you uninformed.

By "independent progressive media" don't you mean far Leftwing Liberal Media? It seems the left had to find a new marketing term once people figured out what liberal really means today so they choose "progressive". There is nothing progressive about liberal policy.

The media is dominated by liberal slant, bias, and spin. CNN barely even tries to hide thieir bias anymore.

Liberals have tried to make their point openly with TV & radio talk shows but nobody would watch or listen because all they did was complain and bore people. Just try and listen to Air America for example. They are raving lunatics. Rush Limbaugh may not always be right but at least his show is entertaining and sometimes very funny. Al Frankin is funny unless he is on Air America.

It seems liberalism just sucks the joy and humor out of people and makes them bitter and paranoid.

By, "independent progressive media" I mean just that. There are progressive sites and there are left sites also. You can check them out too.

There are progressive democrats, doesn't mean they are for socialism. It means they are progressive in thinking. Of course too many people after being saturated with right wing hate talk so anything left of Attila the Hun is considered "Left Wing."

The corporate media are corporate They are huge corporations and they are owned and controlled by wealthy conservative CEO's and Billionaires. They present the news according to corporate interest. The airwaves and print are dominated by well paid wealthy conservatives that promote the interests of the wealthy. There are some token middle of the road liberals for the appearance of balance but they are also wealthy and represent the interests of wealth.

Air America made basic business mistakes and many corporations refused to sponsor them fearing pro labor and people views and guests exposing the scam corporations pull over on the American people. It took decades for right wing radio to rise to dominace and I believe Limbaugh kicked around for about ten years until he made it big.

Progressive sites and media present real problems facing people and the world and present real solutions. They are not spin machines and apologists for the Corporate "Economic Royalist" Class and the Military War Machine. They may not be as entertaining as the nonsense, racism and simple answers that we find in the right wing corporate media but they are much more informative and accurate.

Bozo the clown is entertaining, but I wouldn't depend on him for the news.

You hit the nail on the head. The problem is the Conservatives have a plan, give the country to corporations, and let them take the heat for screwing working men and women. Ther is nothing positive you can say about a neo conservative politician that is PRINTABLE IN A FAMILY NEWSPAPER.
