A gaggle of liberal hooligans got so out-of-control in that farce of a country that Ann Coulter had to cancel her appearance. Have you ever noticed that liberals ARE AGAINST the very thing they so proudly claim to support, free speech. Of course since Conservatives weren't raised under a rock laying in a pile of mud in a pigpen as liberals are, they would never do something like that.

Yes, our citizens will be running into newfoundland Premier danny williams at the border in search of good health care. We will ALL be up THAT creek then.
To me, the bigger issue here is the lettter that the vice provost at the university sent to Coulter, warning her that if she said anything deemed too extreme she could face criminal charges due to Canada's "hate speech" laws. Glenn Greenwald says it best:

"For as long as I'll live, I'll never understand how people want to vest in the Government the power to criminalize particular viewpoints it dislikes, will never understand the view that it's better to try to suppress adverse beliefs than to air them, and will especially never understand people's failure to realize that endorsing this power will, one day, very likely result in their own views being criminalized when their political enemies (rather than allies) are empowered. Who would ever want to empower officious technocrats to issue warnings along the lines of: be forewarned: if you express certain political views, you may be committing a crime; guide and restrict yourself accordingly? I obviously devote a substantial amount of my time and energy to critiquing the actions of the U.S. Government, but the robust free speech protection guaranteed by the First Amendment and largely protected by American courts continues to be one of the best features of American political culture."
I think whomever invited her was simply using poor judgement. She was given the warning and she absolutely knew what she was doing by attending and is very much enjoying the attention. She is well known,as are her views, and how she voices them. Regardless of what political parties your associated with..be prepared to respect the laws of the host country you are visiting..or don't go!

Yes because we should have a blanket of discrimination against other people? Why don't we just go ahead and say gays, foreigners, jews, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, or anyone that has beliefs that you don't agree with. Great plan there.

You get on the plane with them, silly boy. I trust muslims on a plane as much as I trust the muslim in the White House.

That wasn't what Coulter said. She said Muslims should be given more scrutiny. That was before Jihad Jane and her clones.

Yes, not spending more time scrutinizing muslims would be like spending more time checking cats while looking for a rabid dog.

Like China? At least Google had the stones to close out their search engine there.

They just forwarded search results to their Hong Kong portal. Still is in China, but not under the censorship law, currently. Up to 18 other services (blog search, books, video, etc) are still served from the .cn (china) portal.

Did you seriously think that Google's shareholders would put up with them walking away from the biggest market in the world? If anything it was a way to cut costs as all they really have to worry about is a simplified Chinese version instead of that along with traditional Chinese.

What about christian fundamentalist groups? Islam isn't the only religion with fundamentalist groups in the world, and before you say that christian fundamentalist groups don't pose a threat to America, you should just take a list of perceived domestic threats in America according to the FBI.

Herp Derp, because I said that "DEM MEFODISTS AND BAPTISTS ARE GUNNA KEEL EVERYONEEEEE" (and to be honest the same argument could be used for Islam...) No I was talking about the radical christian domestic terrorist groups in America. Also the radical Jewish terrorist groups. So by this logic, since there are radicals in every religion, I guess that means that we should pay extra close attention to everyone because EVERYONE should be considered a member of those small radical groups right?

The Hong Kong version isn't subject to censorship. Google was smart to keep their servers out of China.

kperk014, You are doing a great job here. This is an awesome topic. I have been glued to my laptop for 3 days now due to Ann Coulter in Canada. I am far right wing from Canada and this is the best. Free speach in USA verses free speach in Canada. Which does not exist in Canada. I have learned a lot in 3 days about the country I left 30 years ago. Keep up the good fight. Contact me.

It's great to know there are logical voices in Canada. I'm sure it is much like the US in the fact that the liberal media tries to squelch Conservative expression. If you judge the US by the mudstream media, the conclusion would be we are majority liberal when in actuality more than twice as many Americans identify themselves as Conservatives than libs. I suspect that could be the situation in Canada.

As I said, for right now. and what did China do? filter it inside the mainland, and the other services are still available. Bottom line is they didn't pull out of anything despite how they are trying to make it look. We would expect Baidu (Chinese search engine) to repect US law, why can't google? And getting back on subject, why couldn't she follow Canadian law?
