Passed by the old Crocodile Ed's building last evening and say some remodeling. Will check for a sign next time I go by. About 6 weeks ago, I saw a team from a company that services buildings to keep them in shape in the place.

Be careful and don't blow your cover. Keep us posted. Over.
Wonder what it will be. Do you think it will be a restaurant? None of them lasted very long there.
If they sell off any of the furnishings, I will bid on the crocodile on the roof.
I am not sure why no one can make that place work. The location is prime, and just the "runoff" from the overflow at Olive Garden should keep a good place in business. Everything that has been there since I have lived here was either to expensive for the local clientele or the food was sub par for the prices. Would love to see something "different" there.
when croc. ed's first opened.. it was great.. after about 6 months.. lets just say; nobody will pay premium prices for a hamburger on a stale bun.
if you put out a quality product, you won't even have to advertise.. they'll pack the place to the rafters.
Everything Crash said, plus you need good service. Even mediocre food sells if the service is good.
At least three restaurants have failed at the spot. Ed's was good when it started, but went downhill. A prior place was upscale with good food, but overpriced for the area.
CrustyMac is right, even not so good food can sell with good service. It Makes since because not every restaurant is going to have good food. but if they have good service they can stay in business....
Wonder if it is some sort of national chain looking to go in croc eds former building.
Attractive waitresses help too.
Perhaps I have become a little food snobbish, but I don't care how good the service is, if the food is mediocre, I won't continue to frequent their establishment. We need to hold all of these establishments to the same standard. To be honest, you can get great service at Hooter's, but their food (other than their wings) can be found just about anywhere, so why bother. Crash is right though, for the most part, around here, people will continue to go to a place with overpriced food, despite the quality, as long as the service is good, which is why we have a plethora of places to eat. I would like to see something new, like Cheddars, or Macaroni Grill, even if it is a chain, it will beat the same old Burger, fried chicken, mexican venues we have now.

Then I must be "food snobbish" too.
I would love to have the crocodile that's on top of that building.

Agreed, on Macaroni Grill, their Italian menu is competent and one can even order Campari and soda.
Word has it that it is going to be an Asian restaurant something with Angus in the name from what I've been told. Time will tell.
No, ( Up by five guys and blue coast) that is where Genghis Grill is going. FYI: A for sale sign is still at croc eds as of early this week.
Angus is southern speak for Genghis.
For sale sign still up and a number of lights on all day since Saturday. Perhaps, a method of advertising the place. Or, the contractor forgot to hit the light switch.
I thought Crocodile Ed's had some good food. The biggest problem I saw with them was the service. It seemed that most every server that worked there looked down their nose toward most every customer as if they were better than the people they were serving or that the people served didn't really deserve to be there. I just kept getting the idea that they wanted people to think this was such an elite place that only the 1% of the 1% would be welcome and the others could maybe justify being there for the scraps that fell from the elite's plates. Then there was the few servers that seemed to walk as if they were carrying a corn cob up their rear while trying to walk and their face was continually contorted as if they were forced to smell someones flatulence.
Even when the food is great people enjoy a great or friendly server and not someone who feels that you are beneath them and somehow don't deserve to be there. That was just my opinion based upon what I observed on several visits. Food was great, service was substandard and insulting at times.
these waitresses only make 2.20 hr and most of them are have to put up with rude customers that don;t like anything . tip the waitress cheapskate,
I usually tip 20 percent for good service or 15 for mediocre service.

I see the crocodile is missing. Condie, did you?

Mr. Robbins put a small fortune in the last remodeling of the building. For a restaurant to be successful, they must have a reasonable rent/occupancy expense. That's difficult when the building's too expensive.
The truth: Breastaurants are the only positive sign in the restaurant world right now.

Well, at least they are upfront with the dining public.

Maybe an all-you-can-eat Mexican buffet called Tooters and Pooters.
I wonder what happened to the chef. Towards the end we talked to him in the fish market, he said he had moved from Washington to take that job.
I still miss the old Playboy clubs. The food, service and entertainment were first rate. As, were the staff.

prize bar......
I always thought Danver's was pretty good but that's what the place started out as ( I believe ) but now there aren't any Danver's left as far as I know. I doubt that there will be a Hooter's here in Florence but they do at times locate in a University town but UNA might not be big enough for them to consider it even if the restaurant could be brought in.
Go To Tupelo MS they have a Danvers there.
Danver's originated in Memphis. I'm pretty sure they are still there.
I love sitting in Hooters & watching you men interact with the waitress's. It's very easy to tell just how "hungry" you really are.

Oh Semi,
A hungry man who has a hankerin' for seafood and satisfies his appetite by starin' at an aquarium ain't never gonna catch any fish.
When one views the beauty of the natural wonders, one doesn't expect to take Yellowstone home. Be surprised how many telephone numbers, though!
Perkins Restaurant and Bakery has several units in Memphis. They have the best chocolate eclairs in the known universe. Wish we had 'em here.

You won't see me. My wife won't let me go.
