Excerpt:

One student wrote to a local news outlet begging it to tell the full story about what happened at the march:

I am a student at Covington Catholic and was present at the occurrence. Here is what truly happened …

In the midst of our cheers, we were approached by a group of adults led by Nathan Phillips, with Phillips beating his drum. They forced their way into the center of our group. We initially thought this was a cultural display since he was beating along to our cheers and so we clapped to the beat. … However, after multiple minutes of Mr. Phililps beating his drum directly in the face of my friend (mere centimeters from his nose), we became confused and started wondering what was happening. It was not until later that we discovered they would incriminate us as a publicity stunt. … To reiterate, we did not partake in any physical or verbal abuse … After that initial occurrence, we were then verbally assaulted by four or five African-American men who called us “***gots” and berated one of our African-American students for being friends with us. The truth needs to come out. I pray that you read this …

Phillips told a Detroit newspaper that he had “tried to keep the peace between a group of mostly white students attending a March for Life event and a gathering of about four black members of a religious group known as the Black Hebrew Israelites.” He added: “These young men were beastly and these old black individuals was their prey.” He claimed that the students had chanted “build the wall” — a claim that the student above explicitly denied.

Phillips also told the Washington Post “he felt threatened by the teens and that they swarmed around him.” But the full video makes it clear he had approached the students, who were already there, rather than the other way around.

One individual is seen on video telling the students, “White people, go back to Europe, where you came from,” as Phillips was still banging on his drum.

“This is not your land,” the individual continued, adding other racial epithets.

The Gateway Pundit also pointed out that Phillips had been involved in similar confrontations before.

On Saturday, cartoonist and political commentator Scott Adams said that the students had behaved like “***holes.”

On Sunday, he apologized for that remark and called the entire story “fake news,” saying that CNN and other news sources had inverted the perpetrator and the victim. He added that the full video suggested that the students had acted with composure under the circumstances, and had objected to a gay slur being used by one of their opponents.

Adams added the Native American drummer had also intervened in a way that was unnecessarily confrontational.

First, one of the students who claimed innocence stated they were just getting "hyped up." They need to get hyped up for a bus ride home?

Second, same student says they're a cheer group called the "Colonial Crazies." Note to anyone: If you want to be taken as serious and peaceful, don't use the word crazies in your name.

Third, mother of smirking student says it was the "Black Muslims" whom the boys were making fun of. Really? A lot of Black Muslims attend a women's march, do they?

Fourth, the student says Phillips has been involved in confrontational episodes before. So, could he name some? Or even one? Can he or anyone name just one?

I've seen some say these testosterone filled yutes were afraid of Phillips. Yeah, let's see. He's 64 and looks 84. I'm pretty sure my grandmother from the assisted living could take Phillips in a fair fight.

Use you head, Jutu.

a little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing.   Assumption is even worse.  here is CNN's story with video, which shows the young men didn't start anything.  It was a set up to make them look bad.  from there, lots of after the situation stories, who knows who is tell the truth.  however the long video shows the drummer approached the young men.  It also shows the black gentlemen were trying to incite them.

just more President Trump, America, white people hate.

I applaud the young man,,, he stood his ground and didn't scream and yell as we have so many times seen democrats do... interesting democrat protest,, trespass, vandalize, etc. and it is ok.   Young white men gather and they are trouble makers.

I just posted a thread with the young man's response. He's at least fighting back. You're correct,"just more President Trump, America, white people hate".

That's the problem.  You guys want to tie trump, America, and white people together.

The long video shows the smirking teen laugh and make an obscene sign at the two Indians. Nobody behaved all that well, but if the teen were my son, I'd take him to the woodshed. The gesture clip will follow him for years.

FTR. my wife says She watched the long video and said the teen's gesture wasn't obscene, just rude. So I'll retract the obscene part. In case any don't know what the hand action meant he was calling Phillips a drunk. Whether that was obscene or not, he should have just ignored the old man and not come across as a spoiled brat. And with all the cameras videoing, why didn't he expect it to be on the Internet?

Michael Knowles: Covington kids can teach a lot to rash 'adults' in media, politics who condemned first, got facts later

Falsehood flew on Friday as pundits, politicians, priests, and the press joined together to smear a group of boys from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky. They seized upon a brief video clip filmed at the National Mall, which showed a Native American activist banging a drum in the face of a teenage student, who endured the confrontation in stillness with an alternately perplexed and bemused smile on his face. The defamers framed the narrative: These teenage boys, many of whom wore hats that read, “Make America Great Again,” had surrounded the peaceful Native American elder Nathan Phillips to taunt and threaten and smirk at him.
