Daughter of gospel star hit, killed by car.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The 5-year-old daughter of Grammy-winning Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman was struck and killed Wednesday by a sport utility vehicle driven by her brother, authorities said.

The girl, Maria, was hit in the driveway of the family’s home Wednesday afternoon by a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by her teenage brother, said Laura McPherson, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The brother, whose name and exact age weren’t available, apparently did not see the girl, McPherson said. No charges are expected.

My niece attends school with Maria's brother.. He is unable to cope at this point. After she passed away, it was hours before he would leave Maria's side. Pray for all of them and pray for those that were close to "WF" as they love on him and are there to support them. The story of how they adopted their 3 Asian Princess is so sweet. This is so incredibly heart breaking. A couple of years ago, my brother backed over his 2-year-old daughter with his SUV. Amazingly she has survived and her lingering problems are getting taken care of. But I don't know if my brother will ever be able to function without the meds that barely get him by. I just can't imagine what this would do to a teenager. Such a tragic accident and the driver is every bit as much a victim of it.

My heart just goes out to their family.
