David Bowie was one heck of an inventor of "His Style of Music". He always produced a sound & style of his own within each album/soundtrack.. Look forward to hearing his latest album, released last week. Too bad he won't get to see how well it did.. I've got some of his early 70's albums, even some later 80's cassettes. And Today, have good many download music files on computer to play at cookouts and get-togethers along with other music. Love to educate the youngsters in the family with my old music.. David will be missed in my book..
I still relate music on "Albums"..Ha Ha
Alamo Loving British Singer David Bowie Dies
Iconic singer, songwriter, and actor David Bowie is dead. Word of his death Sunday was posted on the artist's official social media accounts and confirmed by his representative. Bowie died two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his 25th studio album.
A posting on his Facebook page says he was surrounded by his family when he died after an 18-month battle with cancer. He's survived by his second wife, Iman, the former supermodel and two children, film director Duncan Jones and 15-year-old daughter, Lexi.
Born David Robert Jones in the working class London neighborhood of Brixton in January of 1947, Bowie began recording under his own name, David Jones. But when the Monkees emerged onto the scene in 1964, Bowie was afraid he would be confused with Monkees front man Davy Jones.
Like his fellow Baby Boomer British Rocker Phil Collins, Bowie, growing up in the bleak post war United Kingdom of the 1950s, latched onto the Wonderful World of Disney presentation of 'Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontiet' as an example of freedom and perserverence against the odds.
He took the name Bowie from frontiersman and Alamo defender Jim Bowie and the knife Bowie popularized, and, even though he mispronounced Bowie's name, he became a superstar as David Bowie.
Bowie released his first hit, "Space Oddity," in the summer of 1969. Three years later, he recreated himself for the glam rock era as "Ziggy Stardust" with the hit single "Starman."
In 1975, he re-emerged as David Bowie with his first major U.S. hit, "Fame" and the successful Young Americans album. Through his 40-year career, the glam rocker had a number of hits, including "Under Pressure," "Changes," "Let’s Dance," "Fame," "Heroes," "China Girl," "Fashion," "Rebel, Rebel," "Life on Mars," "Modern Love," and "Suffragette City."
Bowie's re-inventions of himself and musical innovations continued through the release of Blackstar, his 25th studio album, which was released on Friday, his 69th birthday.
