The most lethal weapon directed against American troops in Iraq is an explosive-packed cylinder that United States intelligence asserts is being supplied by Iran.

From the info I've read, Iran is clearly in the clutches of a minority of religious extremists. The younger Iranians appear to be very reasonable, rational people. They want what most other people want. Food, shelter, employment and to raise their children with a decent standard of living.

Unfortunately, when the lines between politics and religion become blurred, you get leadership like this.....I would argue that out of all the Islamic countries, or countries with Muslim majorities, Iranian youth are more moderate in their religious beliefs and world views.

Another note: We don't have the manpower or resources to invade, so logically all we're left with is a WMD scenario. I'm of the opinion that China won't let us attack Iran, unless we give them, or guarantee them another source for oil. One reason that the ruling elite of the USA want to hit Iran is because of their oil bourse decision to trade in euros. Saddam made that same mistake and was attacked shortly after. Make no mistake Petro-dollar warfare has kept the US dollar afloat by requiring that all of the oil exchanges (bourses) trade in US currency. Notice how the dollar has lost value when it isn't forced on an open market. Most of the world recognizes the bad position that our dollar is in due to the debt, deficit, unfunded liabilities and the ability of the Fed to print money right out of thin air, which in reality is nothing more than counterfeiting.

The United States is in a ridiculously unsustainable situation and one has to wonder when it will correct. It won't be pretty.

Get out of personal debt and look toward a self reliant lifestyle. Growing a garden, buying locally, etc., and reducing dependence on the government.

Brentenman, again, is your MOS in the FA 39 group?

miamizsun I have read the same material, and I am also aware that the extremists came to power in an ELECTION held after the invasion of Iraq. OUR POLICY OF WAR IN IRAQ HELPED PUT THE EXTREMISTS IN POWER IN IRAN.

Brentenman continues to make the INSANE ARGUEMENT THAT NUCLEAR WEAPONS SHOULD BE DEPLOYED TO END THE IRANIAN THREAT. JUST THE FALLOUT OF A NUCLEAR BLAST IN IRAN REACHING ALABAMA SHOULD PUT A STOP TO THAT IDIOCY.

China will NOT let an attack on Iran go without SOME KIND OF SANCTIONS AGAINST THE USA, AND THAT COULD BE DISASTER. Look at the made in Sticker on practically every type of product for sale in the US.

Iran, despite all the propoganda to the contrary is a DEMOCRACY. The only fundamental difference between the Iranian political system and the US system is YOU MUST BE A MUSLIM to seek office. It is not an unusual model. For decades the Lebanese government had proportional representation of Christians and Muslims. SPECIFIC OFFICES WERE OPEN ONLY TO CHRISTIANS AND OTHERS ONLY TO MUSLIMS. It eventually led to civil war in Lebanon.

THE US CONSTITUTION FLATLY PROHIBITS ANY RELIGIOUS TEST FOR HOLDING PUBLIC OFFICE.

ON THE SUBJECT OF THE WEAPONS PRESENTED BY Sassy Kims

It is true that Sheite Insurgents are getting support from Iran. No doubt of that, Iran is predominantly Sheite, though Sunni Muslims can and do hold elective office. The other side of the country, Saudi Arabia is Sunni dominated, as is most of Arabia. Iran is Persian, Saudi is Arabian. Saudi is OPENLY SUPPLY MATERIAL SUPPORT TO SUNNI INSURGENTS. And the Sunni insurgents are the people of SADDAM HUSSAIN.

A little knowledge is a very dangerous tool to make a life and death decision with.
