First of all the restaurant is a very nice looking place with plenty of seating. It opened on Sunday for the first paying customers, we at there on Monday. We tried the Chicken soup, Salad, Chopped (Hamburger) Steak and Spaghetti with Meat Sauce.

Pluses: great atmosphere and a nice looking restaurant. The bread was really good and they have cheese on the table in a small container that you can add to the bread to almost make it like cheese bread. The Chicken (and rice) soup was very good but had a thinner broth than I've found at other places. It would be better if the broth was thicker but still it had an overall good taste and I'd order it again. The restrooms do have child changing stations in the men's and women's areas which is also convienient.

Negatives: Food wise the taste of the Spaghetti was not to my liking. The meat sauce had a distinguishable chili taste to it but it wasn't their chili sauce. This ruined the pasta for me and I'd rate it very low in quality and taste (my preference that is). The Hamburger Steak wasn't bad but it also wasn't that impressive. There was a good amount of meat and it was cooked well done as we had ordered (always cook chopped beef well). The best chopped steaks, in my opinion, still are from Dales or Georges. Another thing I had to get used to was the "sweet tea". They bring you un-sweet tea and a pancake syrup bottle with sugar water in it to sweeten your tea. There is also sugar at each table but I prefer to have my tea sweetened at brewing time.
Another negative was that the waitress was all too eager to get us out of there. She tried to collect the catchup and other condiments and take them from the table too soon and collect the dishes right away even though we weren't completely through. This could be a problem with just the waitress we had but hopefully this isn't a trend.

Overall I'd give it a 5 out of 10 rating but also plan to visit again. They have a very good selection of offerings in their menu so there is a lot to pick from. I also know that the best time to visit a restaurant is after they have had a little time to get the cooking surfaces seasoned well. One other thing I didn't like was for a restaurant it's size to only have one stall in the men's room could be a problem and I fully believe that any restaurant should have doors on their restrooms that open out and not in. This way you don't have to use the handle to exit the restroom because as we all know many people that exit before you may not care as much about hygiene as you do and I don't like to grab hold of handles or door knobs with my clean hands when the person that exited using them before me may have not had such clean hands.

Ate at Demos in Lebanon last night. Had lasagna, and it was superb. Serice was great. The bread was very good and they kept bringing it even though I did not request more. The baked chicken soup had lots of white meat and the flavor was good, though not outstanding. I was testing this one in anticipation of patronizing the one in Florence. No, I did not drive all the way up here just to eat at Demos; I was there on business.
We ate there tonight. We got right in between 5:00 and 5:30. When we left at about 6:15 there were a lot of people waiting for tables. I had the chili spaghetti and my wife had the filet. Her steak was very tender and flavorful. The bread and house salad was good. My wife had the homemade hash browns as her side and they were excellent. My chili spaghetti was excellent as well. We had the raspberry cheesecake for dessert as they were out of the white chocolate cheesecake. The cheesecake was ok but nothing to brag about. We will definitely be going back to try some of the other items on the menu.
We ate at Demos last night for supper and really enjoyed it. Food was great and service was excellent, but prices were wonderful. Four adults and one child and we ate for less that fifty dollars, we were all stuffed and we brought food home! Highly recommend! I had the pepper steak with side of greek spaghetti. Steak could be cut with a fork. Go give it a try!
Just ate at DEMOS' - earthmomma, you would be so disappointed in me. I've been pronouncing it Dee-moze all this time. I missed the spelling. It is Dee-muss-siz. Anyhoo...

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give their service a resounding 10. Kudos to the manager for a well trained staff. You guys did a great job!

The bread and chicken soup were delicious.

I liked the Seafood Alfredo, but I think the seafood version may have been a bad choice for me today. I wasn't feeling my best already and this particular combo didn't help any. That's on me though.

My husband got the Blackened Chicken Stuffed Potato & said it was great.

Thanks for a very enjoyable eating experience. We will definitely be back. Smiler

Huh. For some reason, I had thought this was a Greek restaurant about to open, and was excited by the prospect. Then I read that everyone's getting steak (chopped or filet) or chicken or spaghetti (chili-flavored, apparently?). That's disappointing.

*Is* there a decent Greek place in North Alabama? Athens/Decatur/Huntsville can be included in this query, as I make it over thataway often enough...
I hear ya, Ed. I was excited about their spinach dish (for some reason dreaming of spanikopita even though I think the menu said baked spinach). I was VERY disappointed in the spinach. They claimed it was their famous spinach or something and charged extra for it. My husband and I both tried it and neither one of us finished it. It fact, the two things that we tried that they claimed were their "special recipes" were not very good--the other was the chicken soup. It was very watery.
However, the prices were good, the steak was good and my 3 year old's grilled chicken tenders were good. They do not have a fryer which was fine by me.
My favorite was the hashbrowns. They were worth going back for but nothing else was. Oh, but we didn't try the spaghetti, perhaps I'll go back for that if I read enough good reviews about it.

I have not eaten at this one yet, but have eaten at the one in Lebanon, Tn.
I thought it was Greek also, and when I asked them, they told me they had some Greek dishes, but I just had the seafood Alfredo.
It was great, but tried the house dressing and wished I had just ordered blue cheese.
We ate at Demos tonight and thought the food was wonderful. We had steaks (the filet of beef and a sirloin), both were very flavorful and good. The baked potatoes were fluffy. I have to say that I was not impressed with the house salad. It was very small and plain. They only offer unsweet tea but bring you sugar water to go with it which was different but not too bad. I know we will be going back. BTW...the service was excellent!
The apostrophe is on the end, so it's pronounced Demos-is. The original restaurant is just a few miles from me. It has a reputation as one of the best local restaurants in town. My favorite is the chicken and rice soup with their bread, it's worth the trip by itself. Their house salad is really nothing special, so if you have a choice, always go with the soup.

The thing that makes them special, at least here in M'boro, is that the service is really fast and efficient. I don't think I've had bad service there ever and the food has always been good.

Another M'boro restaurant that has been expanding is Toot's. It's sort of like a family friendly Hooters. Good wings, burgers, and frog leg baskets. They sell beer by the pitcher, however the selection is terrible, usually only one good beer out of about 5 or 6 they keep on tap. It's still worth checking out next time you're in the Middle Tennessee area.

Demo's Restaurant Review

The only saving graces for Demos were the service and cleanliness. Please visit them but keep your expectations low.

We chose to visit the small chain of restaurants called Demos' on a Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. Any new place in the Shoals Area is overrun by eager diners and we did not want a long wait. The game plan was come come in under $25.00 not including the tip.
The location is a great one and the decor inside and out does credit to the chain. We loved the lack of car tags and neon signs that most restaurants employ to distract you from the quality of food.

We were seated quickly but there was a bit of an issue to start off . We wanted to sit in the bar but employees were sitting there smoking and taking up a lot of room. My dining companion and I also wanted to discuss the pending review. We were finally seated in a nice booth and the server was there immediately to take drink orders. The service was excellent during the course of the visit and if that is of importance to you, Demos' will exceed your expectations.

Upon a recommendation from a friend we chose the Hamburger Steak ($6.69). I requested it as rare as possible (I am a true carnivore and would actually like it still mooing if I could get it that way). Our sever returned from the kitchen and relayed that it could only be served well done. That was actually not too unexpected but still very disappointing. I do have a few favorite places that will serve-to-order and when I want a rare hamburger steak will continue to visit them.

I ordered the Mushroom Burger ($7.19) with a side of Clam Sauce and Pasta. Demos' prides themselves on being a pasta place and the sides are a nice change of pace from potatoes or vegetables. My dining companion chose green beans and we both ordered the house salad. Most of the menu items come with one side and choice of salad or soup and an order of bread. I am a bread fanatic and Demos' has some of the best bread I have ever had. It is flaky and has a bit of herb and cheese on top. I highly recommend that you go there for the bread.

The salad was on the table quickly and average at best. It was a bit small...6 bites or so. We did get 2 refills on the bread before the entrees arrived and would still be there eating the bread if they would let us. The Mushroom Burger arrived dressed with lettuce and pickle and sat on a homemade bun. The burger was dry and somewhat tasteless. The mushrooms were good but could not help the meat at all. You can get a better burger from a fast food place and be much happier.

Somewhat disappointed I dived into the Clam Sauce Pasta. The sauce is advertised as a "Newberg sauce with white wine". It was overpowered with the taste of nutmeg. My dining companion tasted it and would not eat it. I tried her Hamburger Steak and it was seasoned well but again very dry. She liked the green beans, however I did not try them. I will eat a green bean when Elvis himself cooks them and brings them to the table and what are the chances of that happening?

Least you think I am a picky eater, I spent 4 years in the U.S. Army and liked their food. The check came quickly (the total was $23.80 with tax. We had 2 adult beverages and two meals). We paid and left unsatisfied. We will go back. There is no reason not to give Demos' another try. The menu is large and there are other things to taste, however I have had better meals for the same amount of money from Chilli's, Ruby Tuesdays, and Logan's. I will forgive neon signs and silly stickers on the walls if the food is good. If Elvis happens to bring out the green beans...well we will have to wait and see.

My husband, our friends, and I visited Demos for the first time lastnight. I wasn't very impressed. The things I did like was the wait wasn't long, nice restaurant, service was great, and the cleanliness. The bread was great and they brought you as much as you wanted with drink refills frequently. My husband and our friend got the steak and chicken. They said the steak was great. The things that weren't great was the chicken, my seafood fettuchini (crab was cold and plain), the salad, and the speghetti (my friend's side dish had a strange flavor). I will probably go back but it is not a place that I must go very soon. I will probably stick with steak and a baked potato if we go back.

You do not like it yet you keep going back, you aren't making much sense

I decided to give it three times to be sure it was not just an isolated incident. The wife liked it the first time, not as much the second time, in full agreement with me after the third. Needless to say, it's not on our list anymore.
Finally found a parking place while I was in town. Waited about fifteen minutes to be seated. Friendly and attentive servers. Bread fantastic and plentiful. Salad crisp and cold although not much variety of items in it.Italian dressing tangy and creamy. Steamed broccoli very tasty. Tater hot and soft with no hard spots nor scorched spots. Hamburger steak very tasty and well cooked with no grissle and not mashed to death. Left feeling good about the experience and will return.
Have dined at Demo's once. I had their chicken salad sandwich and I chose the mexican spaghetti as one of the side dishes. I have to say that both were really good.
I got take out from there, chose the mexican spaghetti plate and it was so yummy.
But anyhow, it doesnt bother me that they serve unsweetened tea. I prefer it that way since some places can get too excited when dumping sugar in the tea.
the only thing that I did not care for, was the bread. I'm a bread-freak and to be disappointed by theirs, well, i just didnt know what to do. haha I think its because it lacked a garlic flavor and the sprinkled cheese on top of it wasnt soft and melted just right. Maybe it was a little overcooked? the bread itself is very soft.
Will go back to dine there and will also continue to make to-go orders.
I read all the comments and decided it was worth a try so the family went yesterday for an early Valentine lunch.

The place is nice, refreshing decor. Service was great - fast, plenty of attention from server.

The food was good. We liked the bread and the soup. Tried the Mexican spaghetti, Greek salad and grilled chicken tenders with hash browns.

Now the problem. The bill. We were told about the lunch specials, the Greek salad being one. The waiter said $5.95 but on the ticket its priced $6.69. The chicken tenders were listed on the menu for $6.99 and rang up $8.99. I'm not sure the Mexican spaghetti was priced right either. We asked the server. He said that was a mistake on the salad and he'd correct it. He wasn't sure about the chicken tenders but would check. Then he made this statement - "the prices are subject to change".

He came back with a new ticket. The salad price was corrected but he said the chicken tenders price had changed. Now I'm not sure about anyone else but as for us, with this economy, when we go out cost is a BIG factor in the place we choose. I, for one, do not want to go to a restaurant where you cannot depend on the price listed on the menu to be correct. Who has ever gone to Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Ruby's, Chili's and on and on and had the price be different??

I will say that the waiter didn't charge us for our son's coffee. I don't know if that is a regular thing or just a benefit that he gave us. (It wasn't on the first or second ticket) That probably was close to the difference in the chicken tenders but I still would rather know what I am paying when I order my food. Sometimes I choose my entree by price, knowing what I have to spend for the entire meal.

Our waiter also brought us a basket of bread to go when our son mentioned how good it was and we appreciated that thoughtfulness.

We may go back but you can be sure when I order something the first thing I will ask is "has this price changed?". Has anyone else had this problem??
Th salad was a mistake, the specials change daily and i assume they hadn't reprogrammed the register yet

As far as the chicken goes your waiter most likely made a mistake,my wife had the chicken tenders yesterday and was only charged 6.99,the waiter/waitress is supposed to ask if you want the lunch or dinner version, your waiter either did not do that or did and still made a mistake of charging you the wrong price, the prices subject to change is on many restaurants and can kinda be disregarded it is just to give them added power or so i guess, you had a waiter making a mistake,Demos is great please don't let a mistake by staff deter you, hope this helps
