I've been to Dick Howell's a few times and always enjoy the taste of their BBQ sandwiches but to me it's always been more like some fly by night joint than a real bbq restaurant. The times that I have gone it seems you have two employees there. One in the back chopping up a sandwich from some meat that they have had covered in a normal kitchen basting pan. Not that it isn't great tasting BBQ but just seems like they could be a bit more professional in their restaurant. Maybe though I'm just too critical and should be happy to get what I get.

I did notice that they look as if they are going to add on a little to the existing place which makes me wonder if they will add an eat in capability? The lot should allow it but time will tell.

Well, I have to say I was happy to see them open back up but I have to throw this in. I went by there to eat on Thursday (June 10th) at lunch to get one of their delicious hot dogs that are so famous and I was VERY disappointed. The hot dog was awful. It was very dry, the famous slaw was awful, it tasted like vinegar, and it was barely warm. Now I know they are just getting opened back up but if they don't get their old recipe back I can truly say I will not be eating there again. I just hope they get the bugs worked out because I truly do (did) love those hot dogs. The sandwiches maybe OK didn't have one of those.
