On US43 & 17 between Hackleburg and the Marion/Franklin County line just past a Wrangler plant there is a divided 4 lane highway (about a mile long) with two new bridges. They both lead to nowhere. The plant looked closed and I can't imagin that many people going to and from Hacleburg. What a waist of $millions of dollars. Anybody know the reason behind this 1 mile stretch of wasted tax payer money? I looks like it was just completed.

Are you referring to the bridge over Bear Creek?
My boyfriend lives over in Hackleburg and I know that the old bridge that was previously there was in dilapidated condition and seemed dangerous plus it was narrow. The new bridge is definitely much more safer but I don't see where it has to be a two-lane. Hackleburg doesn't see that much traffic! Plus, it's weird because you have to turn down in there some way to get to the canoe place. I personally agree with the writer who said Bedford did a lot for that area. Makes you wonder...
