Parker is testing out to see how well the word "Negro" will strike us today. This is in line with his post in News about a lawyer. It also is in line 2ith his menu report from Hubbard School last week.
No idea, never checked the papers at the courthouse to find out who runs what and then try to determine their "race" before eating anywhere in my life, nor would I fancy myself doing so ever.
When is the last time anyone used the word "Negro" in seriousness? About 1968? There is a cool website called "Respectable Negroes" that is very funny and erudite. They mean it to be a campy title,, though.
