nothing going on,, how many are left?

Looking like it is dying. All of us actually interested in discussing instead of listening to name calling...or being accused of being on drugs...or having someone that thinks she knows it all dropping in making her snarky remarks...have moved on for the most part...and the ones doing the name calling and personal attacks don't have their victims any longer so they're not interested in staying because they never intended to discuss politely anyway.
It died a long time ago. It used to be fun until so many trolls came in and the moderators left

There use to be dozens of us, on the forums. We had parties and cookouts and made some GREAT friends. This place was sooo much fun. Now, just a whole lot of 'victims' who create their own drama.
I miss the good ole days too, Gus.
Yes Robert and many of us have maintained that friendship to now and stay in contact through other means.
I was not a member during the time that the meetings and offline activities took place but I've seen it dying over the years and actually made a post to that effect a little while ago. It's to the point that those left form a very exclusive group and for the most part most of those at the very top of the member list by activity are no longer seen.
I'm evaluating renewal of my Times Daily subscription and frankly don't know that I'll renew it when it's actually up so if that happens my digital access may also go. Maybe that's the reason many aren't hear, the papers subscription has dwindled down so low that there aren't too many left. Just a guess mind you.
Trolls and 'bots' are never far away...
The last time I was on here regularly the trolls had taken over. At least now it seems there are real people here and we are cicvil to each other.
Once you figure out how to BLOCK the 'bots, it's a pretty good forum. It sorta makes one wonder why the admins 'hide' that function.
Who are those using bots to post anyway?
Most people seem content to remain ignorant rather than informed.
I didn't know it still existed. Lost it years ago when they were messing around with the format. Never could find it again so I thought it was removed. Happened to stumble across it while doing a search of an unrelated subject.
@Jack Hammer posted:To remain ignorant wasn't the case a while back when hundreds werenon members reading.
I wish that was still the case. I dearly love intelligent discussion, which is what I hope to generate with my posts. At least we don't have to deal with unwanted trolls.
It's very likely I'll be leaving the forum but then there's not that much activity anymore either that would warrant my remaining a Times Daily Subscriber. I currently subscribe to Wednesday & Sundays but the price quoted me a few days ago to renew the subscription (13-week price I believe) was more than what I believe I get these days so I told them that come August when my subscription expires I don't want to renew.
The wife said someone called from TD today but I wasn't here to take the call and she said they would call back but they never did. I've slowed my activity on the forum as it has been but there is frankly not enough activity, anymore, to make it that interesting and since so many were banned and others left the daily expected banter among some of the more diverse participants disappeared so some of the interest dropped away.
With so many sources of information, any more Print media is certainly having a difficult time competing, and while one reason I subscribed was the coupons those have dropped off considerably. So unless things change and my subscription expires I'm sure my digital access may disappear as well so if so I'll say bye to my online forums and keep up the site so it truly won't die. I'm sure some of us, that are the foodies on the board, will possibly cross paths from time to time as we endeavor to keep the local restaurants and eateries in business.
I didn't realize it had been that long. I hope you are doing better

Not sure I understand. Are you saying your ability to post on this forum is connected to a subscription to TD? If so, it's not. I'm not a subscriber yet here I be.
Timesdaily is to start charging for on line
I am not a bot.
I am not a bot.
I am not a bot.

I'm not sure to be honest with you if that will change or not. If not and non-subscribers can still post here then I shall be here but if not then I will have said my goodbyes before they terminated me.
it could be that you are correct and things will not change and I can still be here even though I do not subscribe after all it seems this form is just an afterthought on behalf of the times daily so it is possible that it could be overlooked but as of sometime in August they are going to a subscription-based service for online and that could be affecting the forum as well. And as I said if that is the case I will at least had my chance to say my goodbyes.
The Decatur Daily requires a paid subscription to read their digital version. There is NO TNValleyTalks section offered
It's still alive. Just slower paced than it used to be.
If they really wanted to punish us, they'd just delete the forums. Hmmmm...
Sometimes reading the political posts is punishment enough 😷
