I may not have facts perfectly straight here but anyone with a knowledgable opinion, set me straight please.

1 - Senate struggles to get 60th vote on healthcare.
2 - Democratic Senator of Nebraska is holding out against his own party.
3 - Obama puts a Nebraska military base on the "Potential closing list".
4 - Nebraska Senator immediately flops his vote under pressure.
5 - Healthcare gets their 60 Senate votes.
6 - New version of proposed healthcare bill rewards ONLY the State of "Nebraska" with some sort of Medicare/Medicaid budget "enhancements".
7 - Senators from some of the other 49 States wise up, and shoot down this version of the bill, realizing their State is not rewarded, I guess.

Dirty politics used to be an "under the table" thing but I guess the new era of "transparency" puts it in perspective.

Insanity: Doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different outcome!

And this surprises you? This type of deal-making and bribery has been going on since time immemorial. Such is the world of politics -- it's a slimy business.

More concerning to me than the political bribery that goes on amongst Senators (which is to be expected) is this administration's attacks on private citizens. You might recall that there is controversy over what car dealerships the Obama administration decided to close when they acquired Government Motors. If you look, you will see some of the dealerships closed were very profitable -- they just so happened to be owned by Obama critics. One of the dealerships was owned by Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson's parents. It had been in her family for 90 years and had met the government's criteria for one of the dealerships that was worthy of remaining open. However, it was put on the close list. A quote from her:

quote:
"I'd like to get a hold of the car czar too," Carlson said. "Never did I think personally that I would need to get a hold of him, but now I do because my parents have owned a General Motors dealership in Anoka, Minn., for 90 years and they were terminated last week and they would like to know why. They would like to know why from the car czar."

According to Carlson, the dealership had exceeded the obligations set forth by GM for its dealerships, but were still facing a shutdown which would mean laying off 80 of the dealerships employees.

"It said you would no longer be part of the new General Motors," Carlson said. "Apparently there was criteria, but let me tell you this Glenn - they haven't lost money. They are a profitable operation. Their objective, they met at 103 percent. You can't go higher than that and yet they are being terminated. There are 80 employees who will not have jobs anymore. My parents lay awake at night worrying about those employees."

This whole story does not surprise me because Obama has made it known how much he despises Fox news. And Carlson's case isn't a fluke -- there have been several dealership owners come out and say their dealership was slated for closure even though it was profitable. All of them were previous critics of Obama, or were affiliated with people who are.

The Obama administration might take the cake, in recent times, as being the most vicious administration when it comes to attacking political opponents -- even those opponents in the private sector.

That's would be really bad if it weren't completely untrue. It was a rumor started by a conservative blogger that got picked up and promoted as fact by people who should know better.
