ATT ran a lot of fiber in the last few years . Uverse is their offering over the fiber, but they don't run the glass inside your house, it is only to the nearest Slick (or whatever they are now calling the neighborhood box) . If installed correctly,.a technician will come to your house and make an all new run of cat 5 wire from demarcation all the way to where your modem/router will be.Then, he will backfeed your phone , which comes off of the router, on your old house wireing. No need for those damm filters anymore.
Dish network offers that same service , by ATT, for that price I gave you, but if you already have ATT service, they will not accept your business.
You can find out more at the ATT web site.
So far, for me, service has been all I need in the way of speed and rock solid.
I'm not saying all that because I am a real big fan of ATT, and in fact I know of the shady dealings in the past with RKO General, and MCI, but really, for home phone and internet service, they are hard to beat
