We've had Charter Cable & Internet for several years. Recently our service went to $158.00 a month (with taxes & the extra fees they stick to you). We've been having problems with our cable for a couple of months so we're thinking of going to satellite. Problem is, which one? Direct Satellite or Dish? Couple of family members have Dish & like it.

Do any of you have Dish or Direct? If so, do you have their internet service? Pleased or not pleased with it?

We're trying to decide if we do go to satellite, should we keep Charter's internet service or go with satellite internet.

I have been on Dish for years, and I have never had any complaints with their service. My son used to install both , and seems to prefer Dish, but for what reason I don't know.
My advise would be to look past the promotional period and just pick which one offers the channels you like best for the best price.

For internet, I use ATT's  U-Verse. Had the service for a couple of months into a year long contract for the high speed internet w/ wireless router and telephone service thru Uverse as well for $49.00/month . After that it will go up , but I plan to get phone service thru Magic Jack or some other VOIP plan to cap that.   The internet is very fast compared to my old DSL .(BTW, if you insist with ATT, you can get that same price and have it put in free - but you gotta insist on it)

Now, I will say about "cable TV" service however it is received, I personally would like to drop it. Not the fault of the provider, but IMHO there is just very little on that is worth watching at all, let alone paying for. I have an antenna and can get a plethora of pretty good programming off the ai for free, and a ROKU which I use most of the time anyway.  However, the wife likes a couple of channels on Dish that are not available on the streaming box, so , for now, we keep paying $77.00/month for  her HGTV and QVC . At least I can still watch History channel, and Nat Geographic.

Att U-Verse is great. You can get Tv,phone and internet  IF they have it in your area. We have all three with them for 156.00 a month . The phone is unlimited in the U.S with long distance. We have the U-300 tv package (they have others )  and get more channels than anyone can watch.  They will give it to you for a yr at a promo price and at the end of the yr you just call them and can almost always get them to give it to you for another yr at the same price. I used to have direct and would have not advised anyone to get their internet. now that said.... since they switched to ATT U-Verse for internet I would go with them .

I have Direct and have been happy with it for the most part. The only things I hate is when it rains very hard you lose your signal. Today I checked into getting ATT U-Verse and I will save a lot of money if I go with them and bundle my Internet, TV and phone. I am paying about 120.00 a month for tv alone (I have the big package plus HBO) and I am paying 45.00 a month for internet with Zito media, they took over Charter in my area about a year ago.

I can try out the U-Verse for 30 days before entering into a contract plus they said I would get a 100 visa gift card to keep no matter what I decide. My total bill with all combined is going to be 107.00. That is a savings of around 60 a month.

ATT ran a lot of fiber in the last few years . Uverse is their offering over the fiber, but they don't run the glass inside your house, it is only to the nearest Slick (or whatever they are now calling the neighborhood box) . If installed correctly,.a technician will come to your house and make an all new run of cat 5 wire from demarcation all the way to where your modem/router will be.Then, he will backfeed  your phone , which comes off of the router, on your old house wireing. No need for those damm filters anymore.

Dish network offers that same service , by ATT, for that price I gave you, but if you already have ATT service, they will not accept your business.
You can find out more at the ATT web site.

So far, for me, service has been all I need in the way of speed and rock solid.
I'm not saying all that because I am a real big fan of ATT, and in fact I know of the shady dealings in the past with RKO General, and MCI, but really, for home phone and internet service, they are hard to beat

I think I answered  (tried to anyway)

I sometimes have a hard time understanding how this version of TD works. Tried to send a couple of people more private messages via dialogs and for some reason now, I'm blocked from that.

Maybe nobody likes me

Not that I think I may be one of them but I don't have you blocked because I like you!

Well, thank you, I llike you too.

I tried and was successful in sending you a test message.

I tried again to send one to HIFLYER but it said I didn't have permission for him.

I had tried a few weeks ago to PM Grey Mare when she was wanting to get her green gunk off the front of her house, but she had me blocked as well, so I gave up trying to help her.

Well, then I don't know. I have done a dialog with quite a few on here, but the first time it ever said I was not allowed to send a dialog was to you Grey. I happened to have just finished cleaning my house and still had a good bit of bleach left in my sprayer and thought if you'd give me your address, and didn't live in some 2 story mansion, I would just come over and spray it down for you.
Then I tried today for HIFlYER and it also wouldn't allow it.

Maybe it is something in the global settings - I don't know.

At any rate I was beginning to get a complex. Thanks for letting me know it is not anything personal.
