For anyone who thinks that a district court judge does not handle serious matters, you need to read this article. Dr. Amy Bishop, the professor who shot and killed several of her collagues at UAH, appeared before a District Court Judge this week. Judge Hall had the responsibility of deciding whether to free Dr. Bishop on bond or not. Thankfully, Judge Hall chose to deny bond to this mass murderer and ordered that she remain in jail. Judge Hall also issued a gag order that prohibits either side from discussing the case in the media.

After reading this article, I am more convinced than ever that Colbert County needs a district court judge who has proven themselves to be tough on criminals. I did not realize that district court judges were in charge of such serious matters, such as setting (or denying) bond for individuals accused with mass murder.
