It was confirmed, it was him... They are thinking foul play... and it is just a VERY sad day for such a good man!!!

Robbery was probably the motive...

It is the "smoldering" house in Rogersville, in case anyone wanted to know. I did have his name listed in the first post, but took it out because at that time it was not confirmed... but now it is...

RIP: Rusty!!!! Frowner

Allysmom, he was 46, and probably DID go to Loretto, since that is the funeral home they are using... I didn't know his Sister... but he was one heck of a great person... so very caring about everyone he knew.

And DC, thanks so much!!!

Sorry for your loss, this kind of injustice is happening way too much lately. I wish I could be of assistance, although I did not know him. Bamafntk, did he work out of the 760? I used to know a man we called Santa, that lived in that area that retired from the 760.

760, I thought that was the Pipefitters local, lol...

He was a Rad-con Tech... he measured the nuclear thingies on people and components and tools before they could come OUT of the C-Zone, and also made sure they were dressed properly to go into the C-Zone... That is what Rad-Con people do... he was good at his job too!!!

RIP: RUSTY LYNN EARNEST!!!
UncleGus I work out of 760 or did I am retired now, yes I have been called Santa, Papa Smurph , Stump & somethings I can't say on here ! Yes Rusty was a Rad Con Tech , that supported all the crafts, I remember him from many years ago working at Nuclear Plants up North & I guess last I saw him maybe 4 or 5 years ago. A great young man that was easy to work with, but did his job in a very professional way . so sad " Jutice For All __ Even The Victims "

Bamafntk, The santa I am refering yo passed a year or two ago. His last name was Ross, I thought this may be a relative. Sorry to hijack, I was just wanting to clarify.

unclegus, not a problem... we all highjack at times... even in real life, during conversations, no matter how serious, the subject gets changed bunches of times... I see nothing wrong with it because that is just how we human beings work.
I heard about this first thing this morning...

I just wish everyone on this forum had of gotten a chance to meet Rusty... he was an amazing person... he worked VERY hard for whatever he had and it makes me so mad ... I mean EXTREMELY mad that they killed him over jewelry and a few bucks.

They didn't know he had a "special" hiding place for his REAL money that he didn't have in the bank yet.... Thank God... small justice anyway.
Thank You ALL for your support and caringness for my cousin, Rusty. I know that he was greatly LOVED and is already extremely MISSED by so many. I am exstatic that they have caught the person responsible for this. I am even more amazed as to who they are saying it is. Obviously, my grieving heart has now turned to sorrow for the family of the accused, as we knew them too! Frowner I would like to say again, THANK YOU for your Prayers and Support through this tradegy in ALL of our lives. Rusty may be gone, But I can assure you - HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
Kinded_Spirit , thanks, but most of us have never had to face something as this, loseing a Love one in any way is so hard to except , but by someone elses hands , as Murder , it adds to the pain & not understanding our rights as Victims, going thru the Justice System adds to it & we pray they never will know , this still is so early for the family & friends , & the steps of Justice system are long & stressfull within it self & yes many familys can't go thru it & except a plea , Thank Goodness we in Lauderdale Co. has a wonderfull lady that does a Great Job , as VSO -Victim Service Officer , so many Co's. do not have this as we do . if there is ever any closure, it may come many years down the road .Even Justice , that if a conviction & sentenceing is exceptable for the family ,still a Great Young man as Rusty Earnesh is no longer with us .If popafish reads this & being a cussin , I have some phone numbers , I have been ask to pass to the family, after that it will their chose , " Justice For _ All Even The Victims "
Bama, you are very correct, and so wise about the issue.

I knew Rusty very well, and had known him about 18-20 years, and he was just one great guy, and everyone else who knew him says the same thing... what you offer this family member, and what peace you can help with, I admire so much.

I understand, my best friend in the whole world was murdered on March 10, 1999... it was premeditated, planned, and just plain horrible... I was "sick" to my stomach for months... it is next to impossible how to 'wrap' our brains around someone murdering someone we love.

Bama... God Bless you!!!
This wonderful man, Rusty Ernest's Sister is now part of our site.

I talked to her this weekend, and she told me that Rusty's Birthday is soon to come up.

NO ONE SHOULD EVER forget this man and what happened to him. We all need to make sure our Court System does EVERYTHING they possibly CAN to put the murderer away forever!!!!

Please, if you see Rusty's Sister running around on here, tell her HELLO, she is a GREAT person and has suffered such a tragic loss!!!

WELCOME TO OUR FORUM!!!!
I did not know Rusty but he sounds like someone that would be an absolute treasure to call "friend". My prayers and condolences to his family and friends as well.

I do not know the complete story that will comprise this case but I wanted to take this opportunity, in this public forum, to caution everyone to be alert to what is going on around here. The Shoals area is no longer the safe and peaceful place we once knew, where children could roam the fields and neighborhoods without a thought of caution. I suppose now that I am old, I am seen as an easy target because I have had two burglaries, with significant losses, and was robbed at gun point once. The law enforcement officers investigating all indicated that the perpetrators were drug addicts grabbing anything they could to get more drugs. The armed robbery took place in broad open daylight in a public place. These people are desperate and willing to take the risk with their lives and yours.
My home now has a burglar alarm system, burglar bars and insurance by Smith & Wesson. I expect my next encounter will have an entirely different outcome.
The Grand Jury Indicted Stricland for Murder of Rusty Earnest & some other charges , not Capital Murder . This is two murder cases with Indictments from this months Grand Jury, the other is Greg Wtight, , the Nards dad & son Indicted for Capital Murder & the Co Deffendant Widderson for First Degree Murder. keep these family in your daily prayers as they walk this long path for some Justice, thanks to all Law Inforcement working these cases & helping the family with answers & understanding .
