First I would like for you all to tell me if it pays to be nice.

I read the forums time to time and all I see is complain , condemn and criticizing other people.

Let me tell you all one of the things that makes me feel good.

This evening late I went to a retirement party for a friend of mine. I really did not want to go at all , so I went anyway.

I was ready to leave within 5 or 10 minutes after I had gotten there since everybody was a complete stranger except the friend and his wife.

This girl walked up to me and asked if I was following her around. I said I don't think so.

She said she had seen me at Garden Spot in Muscle Shoals 3 times lately.

I come to find out it was my friend's niece.

So now you know why I don't do the 3 C's that mean Complain , comdemn or criticize other people.

You never know who you may meet.

It pays to be nice!!! I am nice even when people are mean to me. My sister in law is very oppioniated. I am even nice when she says something negitive to me. What is the use. Everytime I have argued with anyone it just makes me sick. Not just her their are many in my life, that I just say you just gotta love em and go on.

Thanks Kindred , yes just a matter of days and the party begins. Smiler
Someone very wise once told me that every person you meet is like a construction site. You can either build that person up or tear them down with a single word or a single look. I don't like people who only find joy and happiness in tearing other people down. That is not "fun". The same goes for passing on gossip: Before you repeat something ask yourself three questions:

1) Is it true - did you witness the act or are you getting it second or third hand
2) Is it uplifting - back to the construction site
3) Is it necessary - examine your motives, what do you hope to accomplish by repeating gossip

very wise, pickler.

just wanted to make sure some had a chance to read this again.

along those lines.... 'If we had no faults of our own, we would not take so much pleasure in noticing those of others.'
Francois de La Rochefoucauld
Hound! Big Grin It's been awhile since I've seen ya sweety. Big Grin

Aww, I bet that was interesting and turned out to be fun. Smiler

As being nice is- I try to always be nice, or at least uphold a tact when I talk to anyone- whether I'm angry, upset, or just in a bad mood.

When I'm out and about, I'll always smile at people, or hold the door open for them. They might not say thanks or acknowledge it; but the feeling of doing something nice is always a good one.

Does it pay to be nice? Well, I guess it comes down to the situation and the people involved.

I would say; that most the time, karma goes hand in hand with being nice- even when you feel like you shouldn't be. What you put out into the world, comes back on you more powerful- so I guess that being nice can pay off. Smiler

In some situations though, it's very difficult, and it takes trying to find just the right way to word things to keep it nice. Smiler I have to say, that's what I find a little difficult, sometimes, and I'm sure I'm not always successful. I guess the point is to always try to be true to yourself, and try not to say anything really mean to others. Big Grin

Hope you're having an awesome day, hun. *pets*

*blushes beet red* Thank you so much for the compliment Pickler!

I normally respond to threads without reading all the replies first, or acknowledging that would have been the first thing I replied to.

I think the same way about you sweety! You're parents have got to be completely awesome. I haven't met them, yet, but maybe some day, and you know, I don't have to, because you are just completely beautiful inside and out.

I thank God for putting you in my life, my friend. *hugs*

You did everything right. You are the best mother a girl could ever wish for, and you have definitely helped make me the woman, wife, and mother that I am today, mom. I know, I'm biased, but I am so very thankful for you. I love you so much! Big Grin

Hope you're having a beautiful day today, momma!
