In January of 2009 the average retail price for a gallon of gasoline was $1.83, today it is $3.44

Crude oil was selling for about $43 a barrel, today it is $101

Gold was $853 per ounce, today it is hovering at $1300

Raw sugar was $13 and today it is $35

The unemployment rate for blacks when Obama took office was around 12%, today it is closer to 16%

The US ranking economically has gone from 5th in the world to 9th

The national debt has increased by over 23%, approaching $15T.

If this is the kind of CHANGE that Obama brought to the White House, we do not need it.  In my opinion, the man could not run a *****house and make a profit, or break even for that matter.

Of course when you take a man who has never really done any work in his life, never served a day in the military, who was raised by radical socialists and surrounded by those who fostered that type of thinking, this is what you get.  Hey, but at least we can take solace in the fact that within a few months, military chaplains will be sequestered to perfomr same sex marriages for homosexuals serving in the military.  We can also thank him for the atrocity known as the Healthcare Savings Act.

I don't know about you rocky, but this is not the type of leadership this country needs.  I agree that right now the Republicans don't have a viable candidate either which I think can win a race against him, but if we continue down this road of CHANGE I am n ot sure this country can survive.

Same o'' Rocky, I see. I had hopes that volunteering in storm-ravaged Franklin and Marion counties had helped you 'grow up', Sadly, I was mistaken.

 This don't sound any much different than when Bush was in! I do however like Obama a whole lot more as a person and have more respect for his  leadership role.

Look, first of all, let me apologize dogsoldier0513 for the "call out" thread.

That is something I have railed against and it is hypocritical and just plain wrong of me to use your screenname in that way although I was mad as heck when I saw your post.

Secondly, in my small efforts in the tornado damage the one thing I took away was these people were hurting and didn't care whether they received help from a liberal or conservative, they were just grateful.

And it did me good to help in the small way I did with a LOT of other folks from UNA.

I will graduate Saturday and am moving to B'ham so I guess I won't be on here as much but would like to take this opportunity to say although I have blown a fuse at some of the attitudes I have found on here, there are also a lot of people on here who although are FAR from the political spectrum that I believe is correct, I do respect.  (And even if don't respect, SURE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A DRINK WITH, YOU OUT THERE CAGE???????????)

I won't pull an " I am leaving" thread: (I've cried wolf before and always return) but the next few months will be especially busy for me and my soon to be wife (yeah we are finally making it "respectable" according to my NANA)

He has his faults, but I honestly believe the guy is trying.

it amazes me how much someone will pay for a college education (or their parents) and still not listen to the wisdom of more experienced people. First the debate of my president was or is better than yours is wasted time. As I see it the real problem is our congress, both parties. Arn't you tired of being lied to by both parties? Reed, Polosi and don't forget when Newt was in their position are about their party and not the United States. Both parties have lied to us, cheated us. While we can't pay our bills we are giving money to other countries. I could spend hours posting examples. My suggestion is take a serious look at independants, Libs etc. Stop voting in Lawyers and careet politians. Stop comparing your party to the other and look at what they have done against the taxpayer. Our debt is tied to pork in bills, giving to countries that don't like us and trying to be the worlds police officer. Our country taking out a loan to help a country is like me taking out a loan to help my neighbor when I can barely pay my own loan. Bush is done, and respectfully has not tried to defend himself so leave him alone. If you look at all the extras in the health care bill it will make you sick. I suggest they should veto all the extras in it, then we may debate how the health care bill should be done.

Don't misunderstand what I was trying to say, and it was not directed at you persay.  I think the POTUS has little to do with the overall functioning of the country, but his policies do dictate how the legislatators behave and what they think they can sneak through in the middle of the night.  Much like the previous poster, a majority of our debt is saddled to pork barrel spending and aid which we give other counties, most of which have little to no respect for us.

rocky, you are going to see some incredible changes in your adult life because of decisions made by our government in the past few decades. This country used to be a place where if a person worked hard and applied themselves, They could be prosperous, but I think those days may soon end.  Obviously there are many out there like unclegus who did not like GWB, just as many do not like BO, but placing the blame squarely on their shoulders will not do any good.  The one piece advice I can give you as you approach your "adult life" is to look at the candidiates by their records, not by their promises.  If they don't have a record, be leery of them.  Judge them by the people they surround themselves with, if they like to hang out with crooks and hooligans, then more than likely, this is what you will be getting.  Be leery of those who think that they can take from one group and give to another, for sooner or later YOU will be in one of those groups caught on the low end of the stick. Don't base your votes on looks nor charisma, or whether they can play a musical instrument.  And always attempt to maintain some type of balance between the WH and legislators, no party deserves absolute control of this much power.

Now then...you and I should acknowledge the FACT that we will probably NEVER agree on many politically-charged topics.  You see B.O. as one of the best presidents ever and I see him as one of the worst.  The fact that we can have such heated debates without fearing governmental sanctions is what is so great about America.  Have a nice day.
