It seems like DG's prices are gradually increasing. I have noticed a lot of their grocery items going up over time until it is just as sensible to go to a local grocery store and buy canned items I like when they are on sale.

Their sodas are great though--love stocking up on them. But in my opinion, you can't beat Aldi's on grocery items.
Semiannualchick--I buy milk there because the price can't be beat.

Other things I buy there that are a great deal:

Canned chicken breast
Frozen chicken tenderloins
Frozen shrimp
Canned items (soups,gravies, etc.)
Sugar
Flour
Cornmeal
Snack cakes
Stuffing mixes

And last week I was in there and huge heads of lettuce were only .49 cents apiece! They are 1.49 at my local grocery store.

To me, Aldi's is never any more crowded than the usual DG at my area--and the check out line goes a lot faster. I was a bit hesitant at first when I started buying at Aldi's but so far everything has been of exceptional quality.

Butter $1.99
Bread $.79
Produce is usually cheaper
frozen chineese veggies $2.99
Large sliced cheese (just like deluxe american) is around $2.39
Eggs $.89 or so
I save a ton of money by going to aldi's
Coffee $2.99 breakfast blend is as good as Starbucks to me.

What's good? Bought Bavarian Turkey 2 1/2 # $8.99 and also a Bavarian Ham. We sliced thin deli style and made sandwiches using Aldi's hogie buns. It's my understanding that they are seasonal.
Have bought snacks from Aldi and DG. The animal crackers at DG are my favorite. The frozen Mahi-Mahi and grilled shrimp from Aldi were recommended here by someone else. I bought them, and to be honest they were terrible. The Mahi-Mahi was very old and fishy tasting, despite the claims of being frsh frozen. I will not even finish the box I have left.....yechhhh. The shrimp was simlar, and tasted terrible, to heavily seasoned and tasted old, so no more seafood from Aldi for me.
Everything I have gotten there was very good however.
totally agree about foodland's seafood, very reasonable. lash's shrimp is fresher but a little more expensive. of course the best quality is at fresh market in huntsville, though its also the highest. but hey, you get what you pay for right? i've never trusted the quality you get from a dollar store, i mean cmon there has to be a reason it costs less. but hey, to each his own.
