Petition urges 'The View' to fire Raven SymonÉ

Raven SymonÉ may still be a relative newcomer to ABC's The View, but she's getting well-versed in controversy.

In July, SymonÉ, who just got out of a same-sex relationship, got into a heated debate with Candace Cameron Bure over religious liberty. More recently, she took heat after she said she wouldn't be inclined to hire someone with a "ghetto" name.

On Wednesday, she angered viewers by expressing some qualified support for Ben Fields, the South Carolina policeman who violently dragged a student from her desk after she refused to put her phone away.

"I think it's important that we all understand what happened and we don't know everything. First, she was asked by multiple teachers to put her phone away or to leave the room. We don't know if she popped off at the mouth.  We don't know what she said, but she did not get up. They called him as a last resort. He talked to her for 30 seconds and she still didn't get up. She still didn't put the phone away. You do not need to be manhandling a child that way but at the same time, kids, put your phones away."

As of Saturday, nearly 120,000 people had signed a petition addressed to View executive producer Barbara Walters urging her to fire SymonÉ,

The petition reads:

Raven Symone has been spouting her ignorant and self hating spiel on the view for Long enough, from stating that she wouldn't hire somebody for having a ghetto name, to openly complaining about reverse racism, the final straw was her comment about the recent viral video of the school police officer assaulting the student, where Raven Symone said "get off your phone in school then". African Americans and black people around the diaspora need a voice representative of their views and not a voice representative of what white people want us to say. We need strong black rolemodels in prominent positions on television an Raven Symone cannot provide that. That is why I ask that we petition to remove her from The View.

There has been no official comment from The View's producers.

This is the same  bunch that went after the black man that defended officer fields.

The petition, which is addressed to Barbara Walters, claims that Symoné doesn't represent the views of African Americans, and takes exception to comments she has made on the show about racial issues.

"Raven Symone has been spouting her ignorant and self-hating spiel on The View for long enough… African Americans and black people around the diaspora need a voice representative of their views," the petition on change.org reads.

A Change.org petition is calling for CNN’s Don Lemon to be fired afrer(sic) he called for more information before condemning a South Carolina senior deputy who tossed and dragged a black female student on the ground.

ABC Defends Raven-Symone From Petition Drive to Dump ‘The View’ Co-Host

In response to a Change.org petition to have the former Disney Channel star removed from the network’s daytime talk show, ABC expressed confidence in the co-host calling her a “great addition” to the show.

We love Raven,” the network said in a statement. “She is confident, genuine and opinionated, all qualities that make her a great addition to the panel.”

The petition, which has garnered over 120,000 signatures in three days, calls on “The View” executive producer Barbara Walters to remove Raven-Symoné from the panel due to her “ignorant and self hating spiel.”

The letter goes on to reference her recent controversial statements about the recent assault of a high school student by a South Carolina deputy, as well the backlash she received for saying she would not hire people with “ghetto black names.”

Raven-Symoné, who joined the show for the new season last month, serves as co-host with Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Candace Cameron Bure, Michelle Collins and Paula Faris.

It's not about the view exactly, it's about change.org attacking anyone, especially blacks, that DARES oppose them. They want what demoslops always want, the total ruination of anyone that dares go against them. They are just awful people that don't think anyone is supposed to have a different opinion and will stoop to any low to get back at them. Look what beternnun tried to do with me because he didn't like my post and my answer after he got snarky and insulting with me.

Yes, Don Lemon. As you said, because he wanted the facts. Nothing makes the dem snakes madder than people wanting facts or both sides of the story. Read that the hood rat is in foster care. Wonder who is paying her phone bill?
