This little troll should be removed from office since he refuses to step down. From his approving ads that were blatant lies about Roy Moore, to his "Russian" help. (Democrats posting as Russians that claimed to support Moore). Now this impropriety. Geneva? Really?

Doug Jones has been raising campaign cash where the blokes fancy a different kind of football.

Alabama’s junior senator raked in nearly $100,000 from Americans abroad in the most recent fundraising period, including more than $48,000 from expats living in the United Kingdom, according to campaign finance records.

The Democratic senator also attended a campaign-funded trip to Switzerland in December for a fundraising dinner and reception in Geneva that started at $250 per person.

Courting donations from American citizens living abroad, while legal, is an anomaly. For example, Republican Richard Shelby, Alabama’s senior senator, has not taken a penny from Americans abroad in his 31 years in the Senate, campaign finance records showed.

“It’s very unusual,” Republican strategist and fundraiser Ward Baker told AL.com. “I’ve been around a lot of Senate campaigns and I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Besides the donations, Jones’ campaign spent more than $3,300 on European travel in December. Campaign finance records showed Jones paid more than $1,600 for a room at The Beaumont Hotel in London, about $570 for a flight on U.K.-based budget airline Easy Jet and more than $1,100 on European rail travel.

Jones’ campaign treasurer, Doug Turner, told AL.com that some of the hosts and sponsors of the Geneva event were Alabama natives, although he did not say exactly how many of Jones’ donors abroad have state ties. On the day of the Dec. 9 fundraiser, more than $32,0000 was contributed to Jones’ campaign account.

Turner said Jones was involved in filming a short message encouraging Americans abroad to vote in the 2018 midterm elections and that he “received several positive and thankful messages.”

“Millions of U.S. Citizens, including a substantial number from Alabama, live abroad for a period of time in connection with their work, education or family,” Turner said in a statement to AL.com. “With the strong positive reaction, the senator scheduled a brief fundraising trip to Europe. The [Federal Election Commission] report reflects contributions made during that trip. Some of the hosts and donors were originally from Alabama - or had family connections in the state. Others were simply supporters. As is required, all expenses for the trip were paid for by the senator’s campaign committee and all donations were subject to the regulations of the Federal Elections Commission.”

Fundraising is one of the strongest metrics to measure a candidate’s support. For the same period that Jones received $98,000 from Americans abroad, he received a little more than half of that – $55,000 – from Alabamians, according to campaign finance records.

“I think he needs to be more focused on the people of Birmingham, Alabama, not the people of Birmingham, England, and it just shows how out of touch he is,” said Baker, who aside from federal campaigns also worked on Lt. Gov Will Ainsworth’s campaign. “He can’t raise money from the good people of Alabama so he’s going to Europe to raise money there.”

Other countries where Jones received funds from American citizens in the last quarter of 2018 were: Belgium ($5,500); Canada ($75); France ($17,270); Germany ($1,000); Hong Kong ($5,400); New Zealand ($75); and Thailand ($75.)
