The media’s #OrangeManBad narrative has gotten so bad that it inspired a licensed doctor to confidently declare on social media that “[t]he American media is garbage.”
Is physician and board-certified radiologist Dr. Milton R. Wolf wrong? Probably not.
In tweets posted Saturday morning, he specifically took aim at Bloomberg for running a widely mocked piece warning that the potential coronavirus cure that’s currently being scrutinized by the Trump administration can be lethal at very high doses …
As Wolf and countless others nightly noted, ANY DRUG can be lethal at very high doses.
“The drug touted by the U.S. President Donald Trump as a possible line of treatment against the coronavirus comes with severe warnings in China and can kill in dosages as little as two grams,” the actual Bloomberg piece reads.
That decades-old malaria drug is chloroquine, and the potential for it being a cure for coronavirus appears to be exceptionally high, though even the president has admitted that more testing must still be conducted.
“[W]e’re quickly studying this drug, and while we’re continuing to study it — but the studying is going to be also done in — as it’s given out to large groups of people, perhaps in New York and other places. We’ll study it there,” he said at a briefing last Thursday.
In response, the left-wing media pounced, with propagandists claiming the president was seducing the American people with “false hope.”
Upon the publication of Bloomberg’s piece, the pouncing doubled and tripled, with far-left media figures citing it as proof that the president was full of it.
Moreover, in multiple articles published over the past few days, The New York Times has reportedly repeatedly accused the president of having “exaggerated the potential of drugs available to treat the new coronavirus, including an experimental antiviral treatment and decades-old malaria remedies that hint of promise but so far show limited evidence of healing the sick.”
As noted by National Review’s Alexandra DeSanctis, while nobody should claim that chloroquine is a surefire thing — which the president certainly hasn’t — “neither should reporters cover a possible positive development from the angle of how best they can disparage the president. And Trump’s comments about the drug, though perhaps more optimistic than warranted, were not unreasonable.”
Yet the media keep attacking him, almost as if they care more about maintaining their #OrangeManBad narrative than they do about the millions of Americans crying out for help.
The proof of this seems to lie in their notable lack of coverage concerning a groundbreaking chloroquine study in France.
“A very old drug is coming back to the fore. The successful testing of hydroxychloroquine for use against the coronavirus in France’s second city Marseille on March 16 created high expectations amid this surging epidemic – especially in light of Donald Trump’s announcement on Thursday that the US Food and Drug Administration has approved its use for this purpose,” France 24 reported Friday.
“Didier Raoult, director of a university hospital institute in Marseille, explained that he had conducted a clinical trial in which he treated 25 Covid-19 patients with hydroxychloroquine. After six days, he said, only 25 percent of patients who took this drug still had the virus in their body. By contrast, 90 percent of those who had not taken hydroxychloroquine continued to carry the Covid-19.”
While more testing is still needed and experts have cautioned “that there is still uncertainty about its effectiveness,” the idea that chloroquine can just be dismissed outright as a potential cure — as the media have seemingly done — isn’t accurate.
But again, it seems that all some in the media care about is maintaining their #OrangeManBad narrative.
Too bad for then, that narrative just isn’t resonating with the American people anymore …
