This inaction just backs up what I think, We have the weakest, jelly-bellied representation possible from North Alabama. They should have have been making their points all along to the Legislature and Governor concerning our area. They don't do squat but prance around for Photo OPS, pretending to be "serious" about our welfare. VOTE THE BAS****s out. JMHO!!!!
As far as the draft beer veto goes, I could care less one way or the other. I mean we already sell beer every other day, why should it matter if its tap of can? I agree he may have had an agenda or gotten a pocket padded but to say he is worthless may be going a little far. I say that because of all the jobs that have been brought to our state because of his contacts and work with the owners of the companies that have built here.

There have been 4 or 5 auto manufactures locate to Alabama in the last few years, The huge steel plant in Mobile, not to mention the 3 or 4 bigger jobs that have came to our area the last few years.

He may have an agenda on some topics but he has helped our state with jobs.
I agree that the Governor is not worthless and there is some good in everyone. At some point though Gov/ Riley is going to have to do things that are small instead of the "headliners" theory. He is basically a good moral man. MHO
The petty politicking (sp) needs to go. We are not all financial wizards and rich. Things affect us in greater proportions than others. I am retired, my wife is retired and prices of goods and services are very crucial in our cases. All I ask is to consider the everyday situation of the average person and go from there.
There appears to be a fox in the hen house....or more to the point a Republican Governor's grubby hand in BIG business' pocketbook???? HMMMMM...me thinks maybe Florence doesn't want Colbert County to play in their ball park??? It seems as though both bills were the same why did Colbert County have such a tough time getting their bill passed....Hey Billy Don....maybe it's time to use the SPEED dial???
I think Rep. Marcel Black and Sen. Bobby Denton should have been CONSTANTLY inquiring with the Governors people on this and see what Riley wanted, taking things for granted on their part was STUPID, Riley may be wrong also but the STUPID local delegation sure gave him an easy way out, your representation in Colbert FAILED YOU AGAIN

Besides Black isnt their another Rep with portions of Colbert in his district and who is it?

Do not put it all on Black though,Denton FAILED YOU TOO

I agree with all of the above. Remember, conservative means no change.
Oh, fiddlededee!

If there is anything that can rile a certain sector of the local populace, it is being denied some subtle refinement in the type and availability of alcohol and the mode of its service. Such trivial tripe! Riley might not give you draft beer, but he has landed some HUGE industrial projects. Those who revile him for this little veto operation have their priorities all askew!

Sounds to me like your reps were trying to put one through the legislature, whether you wanted it or not.

crusty- no one responded to your post, I guess the truth was too much to endure. That was a responsible move on the Gov's part. He should be applauded. Let them vote it in, if that is the will of the people.

Truth be known, he probably got beat up by some group for signing off on the Florence bill so he decided not to go down that road again with this one.

He's in a no win situation. If he says yes he "took away our vote", if he says no he's "had his pockets padded". See what I mean?
