"The chief executive of BP tells Sky News he believes the massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill will end up having only a "very, very modest" environmental impact.

Experts had feared the Deepwater Horizon disaster could have led to one of the worst environmental catastrophes in U.S. history.

But the British oil giant has risked outrage along the Gulf Coast by predicting a far smaller impact."

And outrageous it is! Bad enough that this oil is getting into Louisiana marshes and onto Gulf beaches that support a huge tourist industry. Now the stuff is moving toward the Florida Keys. The Keys have mostly shallow water with marine grassbeds and coral reefs that will surely be damaged enormously if this stuff travels east as it seems to be doing. This pink-cheeked lying Limey needs to shut his pie hole if he can't produce anything more intelligent than this!

Deepwater Horizon is NOT owned by BP and BP does NOT have a stellar safety record. Their Texas City refinery explosion killed about 25 people a couple of years ago. Guess you missed that one.

The Deepwater Horizon IS where the blow out happened and WAS leased by BP. Nice try at deflection. Wink
The Deepwater Horizon was an excellent ship. Its only problem was when Halliburton and BP got involved in removing the mud to the concrete plugs and Halliburton's batteries were on low and the hydraulics leaking. The crew did not want to drill without the mud. BP forced them to do it. Up came the methane and voila, a fire that killed 11 and then the explosion and that buckled the pipe.

Horizon and Halliburton both argued about removing the mud and the cement, but BP said it was safe. I guess they used their Magic 8 Ball on that one. They wanted less plugs so their own rig could come in ASAP and start extracting the oil and burning the gas.
