Proverbs 12:23 The wise don’t make a show of their knowledge, but fools broadcast their foolishness.

Proverbs 14:18 Simpletons are clothed with foolishness, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

Proverbs 19:3 People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

I love bible verses! Here are some of my personal favorites (sarcasm noted):

Judges 21:10-24
Women repeatedly raped, men killed. Afterwards, they hid beside the road and kidnapped/raped some more.

Numbers 31:7-18
Moses and God approve the rape of virgins.

Deuteronomy 20:10-14
God approves of murder, rape, and slavery.

Deuteronomy 22:28-29
God's punishment for rape is on the victim, she must marry her attacker.

Deuteronomy 22:23-24
God doesn't care about the rape victim. He is only concerned about the violation of another man's property.

2 Samuel 12:11-14
God brings innocent rape victims to a rapist.

Deuteronomy 21:10-14
Further approval of rape.

Zechariah 14:1-2
God assists rape. Explain this one for me please.

Hi Dustin,

All you have proven is that you are a reader of Richard Dawkins' books. Nothing new there. We have had a number of atheists and secularist come and go on the Religion Forum long before you -- and they dripped the same drivel you are trying to spread today; hoping it will make you sound knowledgeable. Sorry, my Friend, it did not work.

One day, you really should open a Bible and truly study it. You might be amazed at how much more intelligent you truly will become; for through this amazing book, you can gain spiritual knowledge -- which is head and shoulders above worldly knowledge.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill

Dustin, if that is your name, your sarcasm is noted and thick. Your attempts at pulling verses out of context attempting to make them say what you want them to or attempting to lead others to believe something that is not true by posting something you feel makes a point yet requires some understanding and reading ability to comprehend. What came to my mind was the Pharisees and Scribes who tried and attempted to trick Jesus by using scripture yet all the time failing to realize they were addressing the author all along.

Your attempts to say God condones and even promotes Rape or murder or any other thing that you somehow feel makes God a bad person doesn't realize that the context of what you cited deals with laws, restrictions of God put on Israel and the Jewish nation with regard to their interaction within their tribes and with other peoples. You further attempt to pull out 21st century mores and apply them to the days of Moses and beyond. We have a Constitution that defines our government and they had the torah or scriptures that defined theirs and what they could and would do.

Consider the following:

Deuteronomy 22:22-29 (CEV) 22 Moses said: People of Israel, if a man is caught having sex with someone else's wife, you must put them both to death. That way, you will get rid of the evil they have done in Israel. 23 If a man is caught in town having sex with an engaged woman who isn't screaming for help, they both must be put to death. The man is guilty of having sex with a married woman. And the woman is guilty because she didn't call for help, even though she was inside a town and people were nearby. Take them both to the town gate and stone them to death. You must get rid of the evil they brought into your community. 24 25 If an engaged woman is raped out in the country, only the man will be put to death. 26 Do not punish the woman at all; she has done nothing wrong, and certainly nothing deserving death. This crime is like murder, 27 because the woman was alone out in the country when the man attacked her. She screamed, but there was no one to help her. 28 Suppose a woman isn't engaged to be married, and a man talks her into sleeping with him. If they are caught, 29 they will be forced to get married. He must give her father fifty pieces of silver as a bride-price and can never divorce her.

Either your reading skills are extremely deficient or maybe your comprehension is limited. vs 23, she isn't screaming when people are around so assumed to be guilty (by their laws) therefore is punished.

vs 25-27 She, an innocent engaged woman, is raped out in the country where no one can hear her then ONLY the Man is put to death not the woman, she is innocent.

vs 28-29 A non-engaged woman is raped, they are caught, the man and woman must then marry and according to laws and customs of that day the man is to pay the father and shall remain married to the woman but cannot divorce her.

One can only assume that if you are not deficient in understanding and reading skills then you are deliberately trying to deceive others as to what the scripture says and trying to make the scriptures fit your definition. I only used the passage in Deut 22 because you have two references to that section but the others are likewise.

Last you accuse God of assisting rape, in Zechariah 14:1-2. You couldn't be further from the truth. This passage as with Revelation chapter 8, Zephaniah 1:7, 14-18, Isaiah 13:6-13, Amos 5:18-22 describes events and foretells of the "Day of the Lord", God's coming Judgement upon the world as released in Revelation in the Trumpet and Bowl Judgements.

Zechariah 14:1-2 (CEV)
1 The LORD will have his day. And when it comes, everything that was ever taken from Jerusalem will be returned and divided among its people.
2 But first, he will bring many nations to attack Jerusalem—homes will be robbed, women raped, and half of the population dragged off, though the others will be allowed to remain.

It will be an unprecedented day of God's Judgement upon the world and will see nation against nation commit much more horrendous acts against each other before God puts an end to it at Armageddon.

Dustin, the proof of God that you seek or evidence can be found in a cold heart, an empty life seeking to find that part that is missing. That part is Jesus Christ and reconciliation with God the Creator. The difference between a saved person and one that is lost is that due to their acknowledgement of their sins and need for salvation and because of their belief in Jesus Christ God gives them a gift, His (Holy) Spirit to dwell, actually live, within their body along with their inner spirit, a spirit that God created. Certain fruits or noticeable things accompany this or accompany the person that isn't saved.

Galatians 5:16-26 (CEV)
16 If you are guided by the Spirit, you won't obey your selfish desires.
17 The Spirit and your desires are enemies of each other. They are always fighting each other and keeping you from doing what you feel you should.
18 But if you obey the Spirit, the Law of Moses has no control over you.
19 People's desires make them give in to immoral ways, filthy thoughts, and shameful deeds. 20 They worship idols, practice witchcraft, hate others, and are hard to get along with. People become jealous, angry, and selfish. They not only argue and cause trouble, but they are 21 envious. They get drunk, carry on at wild parties, and do other evil things as well. I told you before, and I am telling you again: No one who does these things will share in the blessings of God's kingdom.
22 God's Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, 23 gentle, and self-controlled . There is no law against behaving in any of these ways. 24 And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires. 25 God's Spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the Spirit. 26 But don't be conceited or make others jealous by claiming to be better than they are.

If you want to see what GOD really does, at least in a person's life, then look at the attributes presented in vs 22-25 above. verses 19-21 are attributes of the life of a person that doesn't know Christ.

Bill,

Do us all a favor and take your own advice -- but replace the bible with a scientific publication of your choosing.

Hi Dustin,

And, I am supposed to gain "spiritual knowledge" from science books?

As usual, the atheist/secularist/liberal is putting the "creation" above the Creator.

Sound really FISHy to me!

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Bill
