I have and use the Nook. It is a great device. Unfortunately for me, about a month after I got mine, they came out with the olor version, which i would love to have. Go with the Wi-Fi version if you get one, it will connect from almost anywhere. It can download newspapers or books. The print size can be changed. Most books are cheaper than the printed version. I have only downloaded about 10 or so, and am wondering if I will be able to move them to a disk drive and save them. There is enough room on most of the units for several sets of books, so storage is not an issue.
I want a Kindle but in the meantime I've downloaded the Kindle app for my iPhone. Love love love it. I've read several books on it. And you always have your phone with you so there are many opportunities to sneak a"read". Also, the price of dooks is very reasonable. Last Christmas, so many people got Kindles as gifts, there were many books offered as free. I downloaded about 6 and am still enjoying them!
I have Kindle for PC and have numerous books, but am disappointed with the prices. They used to be like 4.99 and 5.99 and now they are 7.99 and 9.99 and higher. I can get the paperback for 7.99 so it's not a savings anymore. Big Grin I still want a reader though -- so I'm hoping to be able to convert my Kindle books to whatever I choose in the future as well. I do love the Kindle for PC though.
I'm with you, Eastside. I love my Kindle for PC application. I have it downloaded on my home pc, my netbook and even my computer here at work for the lunch hours that I don't leave the office. I can literally take my books with me everywhere.

Heub, I'm looking into the iPads. What would you say are the pros and cons in your opinion?

Ipads are powerful and portable, I waited on the 3G but honestly have not subscribed it. Its nice to check mail, surf the internet and also be able to have books and music with you. I used to have a laptop by my chair at home, now its just the ipad. The screen is great and customization is limitless.

Yes, 3G lets you connect anywhere you have a cell signal but not a wifi. All Ipads are wifi and will connect to a hotspot, but the 3G turned out to be extra expense in my case (and its a monthly subscription if you use it)
i've thought about getting a pandigital just to "hack" it and put a full build of android

shouldn't be much longer until the dual core snapdragons drop into a 7-10" tablet

you also might want to consider some of archos's personal media player offerings - they have some running android that will offer what you want in addition to being a nice mp3 player.
