I have a "smooth top glass" range. It gets messy with EVERY use. I'd suggest to you to use what they make for my type range. It's a special cleaner and you use special scrubbing pads. It's not expensive and it lasts a long time. So try that. Also, if you can, clean it while it's a bit warm. Just warm because if it's to hot it just dries the cleaner.
