hey, is anyone out there a fan of edward norton? i just discovered him, via 'the illusionist' on the encore channels. i've been trying to catch some of his other movies - any suggestions? i've seen the hannibal lector one and 'keeping the faith', which i liked.

i usually go more for the king leonidas from '300' type (!), but there's something about that norton guy....

~~ Trust no one. ~~

what was the one where he played the drug dealer who gets busted.... oh, it's called '25 hours' or something like that. it's pretty good, too.

he's the new hulk? i didn't know that. thanks. i used to love that show when i was a kid. i wonder if they are going to get a real big guy, like lou ferrigno to play the hulk part, or are they going to do it cg?
Oh, gawd! I LOVE Edward Norton!!!! He's such a snackey treat! Big Grin

"Keeping the Faith" is an excellent comedy/love story with co-stars Ben Stiller and Jenna Elfman.

If you're into something deeper, with a more historical bent, try "The Painted Veil". I'll warn you, it's not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. It's about an English doctor who takes his wife (who's he's just discovered has been cheating on him) into a cholera outbreak in China. Truly superb acting out of Edward in this one. I fell in love with him in "Keeping the Faith" and this role only makes me "want" him more. You also get to see him nearly nekked too! Wink

The role he plays in "The Italian Job" is also interesting. Ed plays Steve, a truly bad guy, but he pulls it off really well. So cold and heartless.

Personally, I like him MUCH better as a good guy! Can't wait to see him as the Hulk.
oh, i had seen something about 'the painted veil' but had forgotten about it. thanks, beemer, i'll try to get ahold of it.

i think ed was very involved with 'veil' (produced it?), as he was on 'keeping the faith'.

i love that kissing scene in 'the illusionist' when eisenheim and the dutchess are yelling at each other and then he lays one on her. that's one of my favorite movie kisses ever!
I haven't seen The Illusionist but it's now on my Netflix list for sure.

I've checked on imdb.com but don't see Ed's name associated with any directorial or production roles in The Painted Veil. The movie is based on the novel by Somerset Maugham. I will warn you to have a box of Kleenex handy for the last 30+ minutes of the film. I found myself sobbing almost uncontrollably at one point.

I absolutely agree and FX has been running it here lately on Comcast. It is hard to watch at times, but he does an exceptio\nal job in it.

He was also great in Kingdom of Heaven -- you'd never know it was him though...I liked the illusionist but it was a little slow for me at times...

I think I walked into the house one day and my 18 yr old was watching that movie, American History X. Didn't Ed play a skin head with lots of tatts? It was so harsh I couldn't watch. I got through one scene and had to go upstairs.

oh, you will love 'the illusionist'. he was great in that.

i just knew he was involved as more than an actor in 'the painted veil'. i was sure i saw one of those 'the making of...' shows, where all involved talk about the film. i thought i remembered him speaking about insisting that they really go to the orient to make it, etc. oh well, i may have imagined all that! i was probably just staring at him and not paying good attention. ha!

i'll have to catch the others ya'll have mentioned. i'm not sure i'll like seeing ed being a bad guy, though.
