Why is it that all the local races,(sheriff, judges, ...) in Florence are only found on the democratic ballot? Was there just no republicans running?

If there is a Republican running, they must have been unopposed. They will be on the general election ballot in November along with the Democrat winner.
Republicans are not allowed to win in North AL.
They can only be appointed by the Governor. You keep voting for the same old crap and you are get the same old crap. HO HUM!
The Democratic roots of the Shoals links back to the Depression-era, New Deal, Franklin D. Roosevelt days. The older generation are the die-hard Dems. I think in ten years you will see more of a two party system here.

Well, don't hang your hat on that thought. I would like to have a choice in an election other than sending "old hushpuppy" back to rule for another few years. happily snoring away while our state adn country go down the tubes.
