Seems nice that the new owners want to spend Millions of dollars to renovate the hotel. But it's sad that they are reducing the wages of the current employees'.
I just don't see it ever becoming a 4 star hotel given it's location. With the new owners putting up a "cheap" looking sign; I see it becoming a newer version of Regal Inn.

They would have to spend the cash to affiliate with anyone, including staying with Holiday Inn. Not just paying for the license fee, but for having the immensities they require.

I know someone who owns a Holiday Inn elsewhere and know of some of the recent changes. Noticed how in some areas they changed the logo? In order to qualify for that change the hotel has to have a certain type of bed and showerhead, have flat panel TVs in each room, use sheets with a minimum thread count among with several other major changes. It's enough that it will likely cost each hotel around a million to do, and they all have a time limit in which to get it done.

It's not just Holiday Inn but pretty much all the chains have similar requirements now for consistency and competitive advantages over their competition.

Just my opinion but I think this place is doomed.

As far as being "four star" that is a pipe dream. The Shoals already has one 4 star, the Marriott, and many mid market properties such as Hampton, Marriott Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express and others.

The market is saturated and I think this place will just become another low priced dump.
