I thought this was interesting. A look at how some of the environmental predictions panned out. Keep these in mind next time you hear something about "climate change".

Environmental Forecasts Fail

Well, I don't think I would bet the world on something produced by Fox News, which gets it's marching orders from energy companies and the Kock brothers.
All that aside though, what is plan "B". Once you (we) have raped and pillaged this planet to the point it will no longer support the population, where are you gonna send your grandchildren ? Mars ?
"If present trends continue, the world will be ... eleven degrees colder by the year 2000. This is about twice what it would take to put us in an ice age."

This is my favorite.

"By the year 2000 the United Kingdom will be simply a small group of impoverished islands, inhabited by some 70 million hungry people ... If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000."

I agree that we aren't taking care of this planet we have. Water pollution is a very real threat that is being mostly ignored.

Scare tactics like these are not only unscientific, but as we look back at some of the predictions made, we see just how ridiculous the claims are.

There is no global warming. Period. It's a scam that draws attention away from real problems.
Well, the earth is getting warmer whether or not you accept it.
There is a pretty good chart at the end of this url
http://www.aip.org/history/climate/co2.htm

I tried to copy and post it but if it can be done, I don't know how.
Shows ocean temp from 1955 almost to 2010.
Deny it because you hate Al Gore, Deny it because you love the Koch brothers (who finance most of the un"scientfic" refutal)
Deny it because you just don't want to be associated with "green" = environmentalist = tie-die = hippy. Whatever.
As for me and my house, I will use CFL light bulbs , some LED lighting- hopefully more to come, and high efficiency heat pumps and make every attempt I can not to waste electricity as TVA still uses coal at this point for the majority of it's power.
I will continue to support decreasing the use of coal and support nuclear power as best I can.
I will continue to use as much passive solar heating as I can to heat my house (3 south facing double doors- all glass-double insulated) , and if I ever move, I will look for a house with the ability for such. Right now, I am considering installing a solar water heater. We had the beginnings of a good industry in this area back in the late 70's before Reagan killed the tax credits . (Heating water is the 2nd highest use of power in an all electric house).
I try to limit my use of gasoline by purchasing high MPG cars instead of SUV's, and the use of up to 50% bio-fuel in my diesel pickup (weather permitting), as well as use my motorcycle whenever the weather is warm enough for my old bones. (used to ride all winter, but ... I got older)
As I replace my appliances, energy efficiency will be a major article of decision.
Laugh at me if you want, but I intend to do what ever I can to be part of the solution, instead of a wasteful part of the problem, and yes , there is a problem.
Nash, I suggest you take a Sunday drive north of Nashville to Drakesboro , Ky, and turn right and go out to Paradise. Take a look at the cost to that countryside is of using coal for a primary fuel for years. Just take a sad , sad look.

The western developed nations are much more environmentally responsible than the old soviet bloc. Third world nations are environmental pest holes by their own hand.

I agree, but many of the third world countries have had a lot of help screwing up their own environment by American Oil companies.
No environment control laws = oil pillage with no concern for the health of the people or environment.
