Well, first and foremost is she committed a felony by going there. She violated the Logan Act. From Wikipedia:

The Logan Act is a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. It was passed in 1799 and last amended in 1994.[1] Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years.

Not to mention that she's not a diplomat...evident by her misquoting of the Israeli Prime Minister.

Pelosi is an authorized citizen. She does not have authority to NEGOTIATE. But she not only has the right, but the responsibility to meet with foreign leaders in her position as Member of the House of Representatives.

She is not the only US House member meeting with Assad. http://forum.signonsandiego.com/index.php?
And, the Title of this thread is A MISREPRESENTATION USA Today's Editorial Board does not represent, in any way, disagreement with GWB on this issue, and they have been favorable to Bush and Company MORE often than not.

She's not authorized or qualified to negotiate or make foreign policy...you admit she is not authorized to negotiate..then why was she trying to negotiate a peace between Syria and Israel? And it comes dangerously close, if not actually is, making policy by buddying up to Assad and making offers to him that the Israeli Prime Minister called her on the carpet about. If she wants to make fact finding tours, she needs to learn how to keep her mouth shut and look and listen, not try to do somebody elses job.

Pay attention. She acted as a messenger between Israel and Syria. She did not sit down at a table with proposals for a peace agreement. SHE WAS LEARNING THE ISSUES, THAT SHE WILL HAVE TO VOTE ON IN THE FUTURE. That is her job. In the process, she was given a message to carry to Syria on behalf of Israel. She had no right to negotiate for either Israel or Syria. She was the messenger, not the negotiator. Asserting that she failed to negotiate a settlement has to be a misrepresentation. SHE WAS NOT NEGOTIATING, SHE WAS STUDYING.
Sassy Kim, the Queen of England is the Head of State. I can have dinner with the Queen of England if invited. I could, if I wished, Invite the President of Russia, the Prime Minister of Iran, the President and Kinneset of Israel, the President of Syria, and the Prime Minister of Australia to BAGHDAD FOR DINNER. I COULD NOT CONCLUDE ANY AGREEMENT WITH ANY OF THEM THAT WAS BINDING ON THE UNITED STATES, OR PORTUGAL. It is not a crime to MEET the President of Syria. It is a crime to make an agreement binding on the United States Government with him, BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT BE BINDING.
Pelosi did not even attempt to make any agreements. She did not represent Israel in talks with Syria, She did Not represent Syria in talks with Israel and she did not Represent the United States, or California, or her San Francisco House District in negotiations with Israel or Syria, or Pennsylvania. She committed no crime and did not fail in any negotiations. SHE CARRIED A MESSAGE.

BWAAAAAAHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWW

OK, I've managed to quit laughing for a bit.

You don't really believe that, do you? I really had more faith in you being an intelligent person, even though slightly mislead.

You can't call it "studying" when you are making an offer to Assad that you were NOT authorized to make for Israel. You do remember that the Prime Minister of Israel flatly denied authorizing Madam Speaker to make ANY offers on behalf of Israel?

Studying involves keeping your mouth shut, and listening and observing...something Madam Speaker is obviously incapable of doing.
In this day and time, it is very wrong to laugh at another's opinions, they may come back to haunt ya...

I am not a Bush fan, nor a Cheney fan, not even a close Condi fan... but I DO like Pelosi, and I agree that she can have talks, in her venue, and I do not think I have heard the word NEGOTIATIONS in all this...

If she did a good thing, if it works, then why is anyone worrying about it... one thing I DO know, she did no harm... that is the MAIN thing....

We seem to be looking at Politics as a separate entity to society, and it is only an extension... so therefore, when it flips the other way, the egg just might be on the faces of those who dare laugh and joke about something so serious...
It seems to me that Bush will not even talk to anyone he considers evil, be it Cindy Sheehan, or the leaders of other nations. How in the world does anybody expect to have "normalized" relations with another country if we take the course of "you do what I say, or I will not talk to you" (do it my way or I'll take my toys and go home)
Pelosi had every right to talk to the head of Syria, or any other country she wants to talk to. Bush is just nuts, we need some kind of dialogue with other countries in the world.

Bush started 2 months ago REALLY snubbing his nose at ALL of the Americans, even our Elected officials by saying that he didn't CARE what we thought, he didn't CARE what other Politicians though, he didn't CARE what Judges though, he WAS going to do what he wanted to do and he WAS going to use his VETO power...

With over 3/4 ths of the population AGAINST him, he don't have the backing to have the attitude he has... he literally BELIEVES he is God!!! Frowner He see's his Empire crumbling and he is getting panicky over it.

Or, as exemplified by his Public Announcement, to Democrats in the House and Senate. Bush HAS REPEATEDLY SHOWN HIS ARROGANCE BY REFUSING TO SPEAK TO PEOPLE WHO MIGHT DISAGREE WITH HIM.

He publicly announced that he would NOT take questions from or meet with Democrats in Congress.
