We are in the process of planning our honeymoon. Both of us want to go to Colorado, but really don't know the best city to visit. We want to get more of the outdoor aspect of the state (hiking, white water rafting, caves, waterfalls, etc), and would like to stay in a chalet or cabin on the outskirts of town. Neither of us care too much about skiing. Any suggestions?

My family and I lived there from 1988 until 1994 so I have traveled a lot throughout the state. Steamboat Springs is a wonderful place during the summer or winter months as well as Brekenridge and Crested Butte. It is beautiful state to visit, no matter where you ultimately choose. There is a lot of what you want to do at any of those locations I listed above. Have a great time and good luck!!!!
depending on the area you wish to visit, look at:
mesa verde (national park and home of the "cliff dwellers") awesome place! ....
Estes Park is beautiful and The Stanley Hotel was the inspiration for Steven King's "The Shining." ......
now, if you wanna tour all the beer breweries, stay around ft. collins (home of colorado state university) budweiser is in ft collins, golden is about 45 min away and the home of coors... there are LOTS of micro-breweries around boulder and denver.
in denver, see the MINT! (and the bagel factory)
you might wanna check out Leadville and the train ride too!

Yes, the breweries are on the list...Boulder Beer and Great Divide in particular. Not a big fan of Tommyknocker.
Check out Glenwood Springs. You can raft on the Colorado River and hike up to Hanging Lake (make sure you are in shape). They have the Hot Springs pool and Aspen is not too far up highway 82. Sunlight ski area is close (I think you can ride the chair up in the summer for the view).

Telluride and/or Durango in the SW corner is a nice option too.
