I recently stumbled upon this website, Link and think it is wonderful---I've been absorbed! It is a blog with beautiful old photographs, so it appeals to history & photography buffs alike.

If you visit the site, be sure to read about Shorpy---he was an Alabamian and the inspiration for the creation of the website (on the right column, click on "Shorpy's Page").

Also be sure to note the "Photo Galleries", also linked in the right column, for topics that may interest you. I loved looking at the "Pretty Girls" gallery (so interesting, the look and fashions of the time, and the natural beauties)and in the "Animals" gallery, in the dog section there is a photo from Sheffield, AL (may be other local photos on the site, I haven't covered much ground, yet).

Bonus? The website design is nice, and won't give you a headache!

I love them, too! They are Kodachromes. Makes me think of the Simon & Garfunkel song (some lyrics):

Chorus:
Kodachrome, they give us those nice bright colours
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera, I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome away

And from reading the site, the cameras and negatives were huge, which lends so much detail to the photos. I'm glad you like the site, it's different.

I'm glad you like it! I can't pull myself away from it. When I see a photo that interests me (almost all of them), I click to see it full size, I study the details intently, then I read the comments and go back to the picture to note the missed details that others are pointing out. Phew! If only I were getting paid...
