One other thing OP. I had asked you earlier why you had not gone to the VA Clinic in MS for you sinuses since you are a Veteran. I might have missed your answer. I was just curious if you realized you can go there or not.

from page 10 in a response to officer boarshead:
And for your information, Free medical care through the VA is limited to those who are retired or disabled with a service related disability, I fit neither of those categories.

if you have information where I may seek treatment there, please pass it along, my interaction with the VA was many years ago and I gave up trying to work my way through the system.

Any honorably discharged veteran can use a VA clinic, They will ask for an insurance card, They wont deny you help if you don't have insurance.. The VA clinic in Muscle Shoals is more of a public health clinic than a VA facility, They want to see you there, They get to charge the Government money for each visit, It was decided it was cheaper and more convenient than having all Vets go to Birmingham or Nashville for treatment.

My father and my father-in-law were both retired veterans. Unfortunately, they are both deceased.

Neither of them were given the treatment (not to mention respect) that they deserved @ the
VA hospitals/clinics.

Actually, I've had several members of my family served by VA hospitals - not in this area-and they were served EXTREMELY well. The hospital was connected to a Medical college, much like the one in B'ham, so they received cutting edge treatment.

We aren't talking brain surgery here, were talking sinuses and medication.

All of the larger VA medical centers are attached to Universities...
It gives the College kids a chance for some hands on medical practice.. Of course every move they make is scrutinized by a senior staff member.. It's a great relationship, and one that works for everybody
An attorney is a juris doctor. It takes seven years after high school for him/her to even begin to practice law. It's hardly the same for a police officer.

I've had to speak with one DA's investigator, one police captain, and one police chief in the past two weeks. None of the three could speak the Queen's English, but at least two were polite.
I can tell you from experience that dealing with the police varies from officer to officer, I dealt with many fine LEO's prior to my arrest filing complaints on behalf of my company, most were kind enough, although they told me chances of us getting retribution for vandalized property was slim to non. During and after this arrest is a very different story, with the exception of Mr. Crunk, all LEO's I dealt with are extremely rude, condescending, they cuss and yell needlessly, and basically treated me like the scum of the earth. Bear in mind, I've only been charged with a crime, not convicted. Someone needs to remind them of that. BTW, I was completely respectful and did what they asked, no resistance or attitude, etc. uncalled for. I am especially ticked off at the way that neocon cop yelled at my wife to "Shut Her Mouth" as she was on her knees praying out loud Jesus.

I wish Leos and lawyers had nothing to do. Talk bad about both but you are glad they are here if you need them. You sort of remind me of all the stars on Cops and Americas Most Wanted. All claiming innocence and miss treatment after they have run from the cops and are resisting arrest.

Onepatriot7,
Sorry about your false arrest but remember the cops are just executing a arrest warrant or search. They do not know what they are walking into, many times the bad guys hide within good ones or ones that appear to be good. There have been several situations where bad guys are cooking this poison in multifamily settings and even daycare ones. They are also trained to take control of the situation by using a very forceful loud voice and tone. While nobody like to be on the receiving end of this, try to remember they do not know you or the situation.

That being said and true I might add, not to mention guaranteed by the fifth amendment, is the reason we the people must hold "our" police officers to the highest standards. We cannot allow corrupt abuse of authority, or crooked cops who want to make a name for themselves. People will argue not all cops are bad and I agree 100% however, there is enough evidence out there so that anyone willing to look will be absolutely appalled at just how wide spread police brutality, planting evidence, abuse of authority is taking place in this country every single day. What ever happened to the famed motto "to protect and serve".. don't take my word for it, google will provide you several days worth of information, or go to youtube and search "police brutality" or cops taking bribes and witness first hand bad cops caught on camera, sometimes even their own. A gun, a badge, and a bad attitude makes a nasty combination, far worse than our drug problems in this country.

Blues, thank you for starting this topic! Aside from all the bickering, I know you mean well. I want to thank all first and emergency responders too. All areas of these professions have to rely on eachother to get their jobs done efficiently. People who don't work in any of these jobs don't understand what all you go through every day. People who choose to be an officer, firefighter, EMT, dispatcher, nurse, doctor, trooper, deputy, soldier....any of these sign up for the job for one reason-to help others. Be thankful for them and all they do.
You have less than 60 seconds to decide. You walk into a dark building late at night, not knowing what is in that building.

You have less than 60 seconds to decide. You walk into a house that you know nothing about, and there is a domestic violence going on.

You have less than 60 seconds to decide. You pull a vehicle over not knowing what will happen next.

You have less than 60 seconds to decide. A call comes out that there is a hold-up or robbery, and you have no ideal what is next.

You have less than 60 seconds to decide. They don't teach you this in college, sometimes within these 60 seconds this happens, and they do it to protect you and I, click onto any state. RE: Link

Roll Eyes I knew all this when I took the job...no use trying to gain sympathy for it.

I'll say this about "SOME" law enforcement officers, not hiring people with with the right education, not enough training after being hired before being put on the job, not paid enough to attract the people you want doing the job, not throughly screening applicants before being hired and not enough policeing the police to remove the ones who simply can't do the job impartially. When it comes to the profession of law enforcement ONE bad apple can spoil the whole bunch.

Most, almost all, are very good at what they do and do a fine job. But when one messes up, all take the blame.

Exactly why you see NY in front of my handle instead of AL.

Policemen are human too, but some areas allow too many uneducated officers to serve.

Are there not any forums related to your beloved NY? I don't think anyone cares to much about your opinion. So, you coud do us all a favor and go drink your soda pop.

I appreciate your input NYTrooper, as I do everyones, this is a public forum, people must understand that many people from this area move away because we have such a crappy job market here. I lived away from here for over 12 years ( and missed it every minute ) I love and missed my family. each to his own, its the American way.

Now you are accusing the Police of "creating" a reason for a traffic stop. Where did you get that? I didn't read that anywhere. Maybe you are assuming things...

I think they saw it on "Super Troopers" *snicker*

Maybe its just me, but that was the worst, stupidest, waste of time movie I ever had the displeasure of viewing.

Then why did you watch it? Stupidest or most stupid? No harm by asking a couple simple questions, huh?

from webster's online dictionary:
Derivations
Words beginning with "stupid": stupider, stupidest, stupidities, stupidity, stupidly, stupidness, stupidnesses, stupids. (additional references)

You tell me professor.

I don't work for FPD and I think you know that? We have had disagreements in the past but you were using a different screen name at that time. I have no comp and I'm not in the least concerned about a guy that isn't even in law enforcement any more.
