burying the article deep in the paper accomplished just exactly what was wanted,,,no one really questioned this find.No one really thought that much about it.
This is something major. It did not simply fall from the sky,or sprout out of a weed. I only wonder if this was even reported to the homeland security? I had the impression since 9/11 ANYTHING and EVERYTHING questionable was to be reported. It was stated that the construction crews working on the recent river projects did not use this type explosive. So that theory is ruled out. So where did it come from??????????
If it was intended for foul activities, it could have been intended for another area and this piece simply lost by inept persons having it in their possesion. The Tn river carrys alot of traffic that never even stops here for anything beyond getting thru locks.

Some nut job steals some explosives, his plans don't go as expected, surprise, and he starts dumping the explosives. The sky is falling folks.

"They" aren't trying to blow up anything in our area. Really, we aren't that important in the whole scheme of things.

and you know this how? Oh yea we live in the Shoals, which makes things similiar to living in Oz. I agree we are not THAT important in the whole scheme of things, other than providing a waterway for transporting explosives, which is apparent. But where might those type explosives been headed? What purpose might the plans be for it? Sorry to disrupt your sarcasm, but WE,here in the Shoals are a PART of the whole scheme of things and if our waterway is being used for something other than intended use, it needs investigating,to the fullest!
Can you not get past your usual sarcasm to understand the possible damage,or death that COULD have resulted had that been found by the "wrong" person? lets imagine some ****y,curious bored teenager looking to get into mischief.

So why did they bring the explosives here? Don't kid yourself. There are plenty of things around here that would disrupt not only this area but commerce as well. There are lots of barges passing through loaded with various goods. Not to mention TVA and electricity, etc.

Critical thinking, common sense, and the lack of sky is falling mentality.

I have a hundred bucks says they WEREN'T headed for use on a local dam, power plant or bridge.

What purpose might the plans be for it?

The same purpose as anything that is stolen, to exchange for cash.

Sorry to disrupt your sarcasm,

It wasn't sarcasm, but your apologies are still accepted. -that was sarcasm.

The article said that was happening, you did read the article, right?

That would be someone who had the necessary component to actually detonate the explosives. Who would that be, exactly?

lets imagine some ****y,curious bored teenager looking to get into mischief.

Yes, let's IMAGINE any number of things - hence, I'm just saying, Chicken Little, the sky ain't fallin'.

If you want to be worried about something, at least be reasonable. Worry about whether or not your competition is going to drive their truck through your front doors and start killing people, worry that the the local druggies are going to burn your house down, worry that a picture of a couple of rednecks are going to take up more of your time than they deserve. But really - what kind of self-respecting terrorist is going to waste their time trying to blow up Wilson Dam? Donna C has enough anxiety without someone drumming up imaginary scenarios.

Did anyone read the **** article?????? It is thought that these explosives came from a theft in Cullman. Why or how they ended up here? I honestly can't wait to find out. But if the explosives were meant to be used here, it is probably a local crime matter.
The new york times and the times daily do not put important and scary and shocking news on the front page because they are spineless and dont want to cause people to panic. We all need to know when people are trying to attack and kill us all with explosives!! Thanks times daily. It was probably some punk kid who plays video games in his parents basement all day who is indoctorinated by these muslim extremests online. Loosers like that need to have their A beat for even thinking about hurting people. Maybe the reason they put them in the park was because they feel thier tax dollars were waisted on some stupid park. The world around us is getting scary, so WAKE UP!!!!

LOL!! So they didn't tell you, but they are the source of your information?

As to the kid in the basement, he isn't being indoctrinated by Muslim extremists, he's more than likely trying to find porn, and playing World of Warcraft - lots of orcs, no Muslims.

Yeah, there's a lot of hate around here toward the water park!!! LOL!!!!!!

You're so right, the explosives were found not too far from the Entertainment District. If anything happened there, it would disrupt the whole Shoals economy.

Do WHAT??? Why would you think something was blown up under the bridge? Maybe they were checking it (the bridge) out for some other reason? Which bridge? Which police? I've not seen a word about this. Eeker

Well for one reason they showed it on the news for the promo at 6. They said "you would be surprised about what it was". I missed the 6 o'clock news though so i don't know what it was. The cops was going down on the Florence side, southbound lane of Oneal. Sheffield PD was on their side on the Northbound lane there in front of where they firework stand was up for the fourth. It was just happening when i went by around 1:30.
I had to look up geocache. Did anyone claim it? I once read of a college assignment in which the students had to make a replica of a bomb. One student left his in the back seat of his car. The police were called and he was charged with inciting whatever. I also remember when some book salesmen left a case behind the substation on Oakwood Circle. Everyone in the neighborhood called the cops.
Well, I dont know if it was a geo cache or anything like that. I just remember that the federal government wanted everyone to call in and report ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY we see that might be terrorist activity. Good job to the person who called this one in. Its good that no one was hurt here. We cant let things slide and we cant take any chances these days when there are muslim extremists STILL want us all dead. Sooo, lets re fresh everyone on what to do. If you see any suspicious activity that migh be a terrorist threat, REPORT IT to the law. Thank you, and God bless America.

Yes, that post was dripping with sarcasm, good call. I only bring Donna C into it because she seems to have anxiety issues - as her post on this thread and others would indicate - and when Chicken Little says the sky is falling, Turkey Lurkey was just as scared. It's unkind to falsely scare someone so much they won't take their grandkids to the park for fear of terrorists.

Just so you aren't mistaken, I take full responsibility of my opinions, and will reiterate in a VERY sarcastic way - THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!!!! ......----- oh wait,...... just an acorn.

Aren't these the same people who spent half a news show on breaking news in Huntsville about a "pipe bomb" that was just just a piece of pipe? They should be ashamed of themselves.
