As I sit here at my computer, I also have the News on, and was astonished when I read about Exxon-Mobil's profits!!!! Eeker

****Exxon-Mobil 39.5 BILLION dollar PROFITS****

A few weeks ago, I got an email from a Co-Worker saying that if we were to boycott Exxon/Mobil Gas for one month, the prices would HAVE to go lower, since they were the highest prices on the market.

I ignored the email since "I" Red Face my favorite Gas Station happens to be Exxon.... And then today, I saw this and was just shocked at just how much PROFITS these companies make.

We are literally paying out the rear for gasoline, and now I am SURE it is not just an accident the prices fluctuate as it does... I know now that we are literally being scr*wed at the pumps!!!!

I am not sure if boycotting Exxon/Mobil is the answer or not, but I sure do know I am going to have to seek out another Gas Station, that is from right here in America and sold BY Americans.

What do YOU think???

I think if we would just buy what we could get by with and ease off on our travel they might get the message. good topic!
If they, big oil, charge $5.00 a gallon for gas and I buy it, who can I blame? Them for the price gouge, or me for paying it?
Where in hades has the congress been, except bashing eachother and accepting contributions from big oil.
I still contend that an HONEST person does not spend hundreds of Millions of dollars to get a $165,000 a year job in the senate or in the house. Democrt or Republican makes no difference, they serve themselves not us.

I couldnt agree MORE!!! And we all know that Bush owns stock in oil/gas and Cheney does too... wonder if THAT has anything to do with Congress not getting involved all these years???

No, that has nothing to do with it o ye conspiracy theorists out there. I don't have a problem with the amount of profit a company makes REGARDLESS in what area of business they are in. If you don't like it, nationalize every business in this country and set their profits.

Nice to know YOU have money enough to get scr*wed by all these companies... and if you dont believe there are conspiracies going on with gas and oil, then I have a bridge to sell you in Mohave!!

Things of this nature has already BEEN proven, time and time again...

AND if they would just have to pay their taxes like WE did, then things might look a little different... might, bug doubtful in conspiracies.
I think this is terrible!! To me, this is coporate rape just like what Ford is trying to do to all the workers they will have to lay off this year b/c of huge losses while they pay their executives millions in bonuses b/b they (the exec's) feel "bad" about having such a terrible year. (Excuse me while I throw up!!)

I want to buy our daughter a hybrid car next year when she goes off to college. I think the US should go full speed ahead in the search for alternative fuel. There is absolutly no excuse for depending solely on oil anymore.

there is a rule in economics Price is dependent on two factors in a FREE MARKET...Supply and Demand. Competition keeps the market as free as possible. BIG OIL, IS A VIRTUAL MONOPOLY, they are in control of the supply. Demand does not fluctuate, so they are in ABSOLUTE CONTROL OF THE PRICE.

Just looking at the numbers their profit percentage is far from exorbitant. What is not in that article , and the liberal media will not tell you is Exxon made that 40 billion last year on 378 billion in sales. In other words, for every $37.80 they sold they made $4. That doesn't seem extreme. For every $37.80 worth of product it cost them $33.80 to get it to you. If you went to a restaurant and spent $37.80 on a meal, would you think $4 for the restaurant was unreasonable.
People raise hell about it because they equate profit with the high price of gasoline. Unless the American people cut their usage, boycotting Exxon would have very little effect, even if everybody did it. Even if all oil companies were non-profit, you might reduce the price of gasoline .25 per gallon. You could reduce the price a lot more than that by taking the taxes off it. Raising hell about oil company profits is mainly political. For some reason people believe
that if they get rid of Bush and all things Republican, The price of gasoline will plummet to .50 per gallon. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN.
The only way to lower profits is to lower consumption.

Oh yeah, I forgot... The News Caster was absolutely stunned too... He could NOT believe that with our gasoline crisis going on, that a company could make that much PROFIT!!!

Wish I could make that kind of PROFIT also!! LOL

1) It doesn't take much to stun a newscaster!

2) Invest in companies like this, they are sure to pay out some nice dividends!

It is all a matter of supply and demand. Ever wonder why the drug suppliers are rich?

Then "I" need to learn to do MATH the way they do, so I can turn that 37 dollars into 37 BILLION, and I WANT IT NOW!!! lol Smiler
The disgusting part in this is that Exxon has been doing this for decades and the corporate media repeats these lies as if they are facts without explaining that these scientists are being paid. It’s been going on for years.
The corporate media are huge corporations that promote the interests of corporations, “they are not for the people,” as their spin would have us believe. They are more like referee’s in TV Wrestling matches. You know, where the big guy mauls the little guy but somehow the referee never sees it, or only sees it when it’s too late.
We have to wonder, are they really an outside source or “just part of the show”?
