Many people equate faith with religion only. It takes faith in all aspects of everyones life in order to survive. Would you reach to turn on a lifht switch if you didn't have faith it would turn on a light? Would you turn the key in your cars ignition if you didn't have faith the car would start?

Faith is the power that causes people to act. You can have faith in many things. Some have faith there is a God and act on that faith, some do not. How about you?

GOT FAITH ????

I'm pretty convinced that "faith" is for people who don't know a lot and survive purely by accident.

What kinda logic is "I dunno if my car'll start so I won't bother turning the key?"

Faith is an educated guess based upon past observation. I have 'faith' that my wife won't cheat on me. She's shown me that.   'Blind faith' is the equivalent of reaching up yer butt for an answer.

I maintain my car.

I guarantee it'll start.

You would bet your life that your car will start?

Yup. Every time.

There have been many times in my life where I either had to be quick or be dead.

I opted for the former. That's why I always make sure it'll work when I need it. I pre-trip my vehicles regularly. It's a habit I got into.

Do you own a firearm?  If so, do you clean and maintain it? Or do you just 'leave it up to jesus' that it'll fire accurately when you really need it to?

If *I* don't use my head-Someone else might.

Don't confuse faith with trust. I trust my close friends because they proven time and again they are there for me when I need them, as am I for them. I have trust in them, not faith. Faith is a belief that something will happen, can happen, or has happened without any sort of evidence to back up your belief. I trust that when I turn on a light switch that it will work based on the thousands of times before that I have turned it on and it has delivered. It doesn't mean that the switch will always work, but it has a pretty **** good track record.

I have faith in no one, but I do have trust in a select few based upon their previous actions towards me. As Mark Twain said, "Faith is believing in what you know ain't so."

Hi Dwight,

You tell us, "Many people equate faith with religion only."

No, Christians equate "faith" with having a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.   With faith in Jesus Christ, we have eternal life with God.  Without faith in Jesus Christ, we have eternal life in a place totally void of God.  The first is eternal happiness and peace.  The second is eternal dismay and sorrow.

Christians equate "religion" with rituals, traditions, dogmas, and such.  That is not faith.  That is Pavlonian training.  Are you married to your spouse because dogma, rituals, and tradition dictate it?  Or are you with your spouse because you have a loving relationship?  The same is even more true of a Christian's relationship with Jesus Christ.

This is what you will find in a Christian church -- but, which will be missing in a cult church.

God bless, have a wonderful, blessed day,

Don't know why you persist in calling me Dwight, but so be it. My statement still stands.

Like he said-"Many people equate faith with religion only" which I thought was much more efficient than all the bloviating you did just to say the same thing.
