Well done Fatoys as in great job. Now let me say when ordering burger you tell your server how you want it to look on the inside, pink but warm or no pink and hot ect not like ordering a stake rare-mr-m-mw-w-burnt.I use to have a customer order his rare, 9oz,s sear one side turn sear other top with pure horseradish and that was it cold red meat in the middle but hey thats what he wanted and thats how it fixed but only because he told his server how he wanted it and in return she always got a good tip. just saying if you dont tell them how they going to know.Keep up the good work Fatboys.
Finally had a chance to visit Fatboys last week. Had the Fatboy Burger with the homemade potato chips (sorry, not sure what they are actually called on the menu). The burger was not unedible, but wasn't really a true 'burger' to me beacuse of the seasoning in the meat. It tasted more like a meatloaf sandwich minus the tomato sauce. Honestly, if I had to guess, i would say that it tasted like they had mixed Lipton onion soup mix into the meat...and mixed waaaay too much of it at that. It made the burger too salty and completely overpowered the taste of the meat. Plus the cheese on the burger was very salty, so basically, all I could taste was an overpowering seasoning and very salty cheese....couldn't really taste the meat in the burger at all.

The homemade chips seemed way too thick to be cooked as hard as they were. They were not golden brown, but dark brown and almost burnt. If they had been a little thinner, they would have been more edible...but, as they were, they were so hard I thought I might chip a tooth,so, I didn't have too many of those.

The biscuits brought out before the meal were very good, but I was also a little dissappointed in the orange sauce I had heard about. It really wasn't a sauce at all - seemed more like a little cup of thawed out orange juice concentrate with maybe a little sugar added.

Overall, the meal I had that day was just not that great.

The servers were very sweet and friendly. The floor, however, was very dirty and there was a carpet sweeper sitting in the middle of the floor next to my table the whole time I was there. The chairs at the tables were also mostly pulled out in the way and left for customers to have to walk around. The staff seemed more content to sit at a table together and socialize instead of cleaning and straightening up.

The layout of the dining area was unappealing from an aesthetic standpoint. It was just one big room with booths along two sides and tables in the middle....like eating in a big open box. It seems like some sort of divider in the middle would make it more cozy and appealing. Also, the door to the bathrooms opens right up into the dining room within a few feet of some of the tables. That just kind of grossed me out. Some sort of partial wall or at least a screen to separate the restoom entrance from the dining area would be nice.

Man, I don't mean to bash the place. It was not totally bad - just what I ordered that day did not appeal to me. I may give it another try later - but, I won't order the burger again. If you like a LOT of strong seasoning in your burger meat, give it a try - that's just not my thing.
We finally made it to Florence to try out Fatboys on Saturday. I ordered the Fatboy Burger, and my wife ordered the Florence Tenders. We both really enjoyed our food, and it was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the Queso Blanca as an appetizer and it was also good.

Our friends with us ordered the Buffalo Sandwich and the Melt. Both really enjoyed it.

I hope Fatboys makes it. It looks like business is doing well now.

Shell Quik Mart in Tuscumbia has fat delicious burgers any way you like them for 1.29 and 1.59 and they dont charge extra for condiments so why go there?[/quote]
Are they as good as Arby's Zeb?
Hey backwoods, why do you have Captain Obvious on ignore? Oh yes, I forgot that keeping your multiple screen names on ignore is common practice for small time trolls like yourself.

I'm guessing you're probably logging in as Homer also. The simple fragment sentence syntax of both of your entiring posting history is very similar. Those last 4 colluded posts extolling the virtues of gas station hamburgers were nothing but a huge circle jerk.
they're just as good as 5 guys in my opinion, a different style of burger though.

if the bathrooms bother you so much you can always request to not sit by them, or better yet, let the owner know, i've met the guy and he is very friendly and seems to actually care about this establishment and will do what it takes for it to succeed. a simple fix would be an additonal door, if i remember correctly. or i guess you could come on here and complain and then others will read that and then they wont go, and all because of a aesthetic issue and nothing to do with the food. insane.

Insane? Because I prefer not to eat in a dining area that has the bathroom in close proximity to where I'm having dinner?
I think I'm entited to an opinion as much as you have w/o being accused of being
insane. Roll Eyes
"TW0907, can you elaborate a little more on they style of the burgers?"

it's been awhile since i've had actually had the burger, it was one of the first things i tried and i try something new everytime i go. but the patties are way thicker than staggs and 5 guys, and they tend to be less greasy. plus the meat is seasoned different than any burger ive had before. some compare it to meatloaf, though i say they're crazy because it has neither the taste or texture of meatloaf, they're just some thickass burgers. the bacon on them is also way thicker than what you get other places, probably some of the best bacon i've had on a burger, ever.
I went a few weeks back and had a lousy dining experience. I decided to go back today and give them another shot.
I ordered the FB burger and this time I was explicit in my request for a burger done medium. Well what I got was far from medium. The burger was well done, dry and tasteless. The Kaiser roll was not fresh, just this side of stale. The fries are your garden variety seasoned fries from a freezer pack. The bacon everyone is raving about was overcooked; once you burn fat the flavor permeates the rest of meat – cooking 101 stuff. Top that off with inconsistent service and it was a flop.
I can honestly say they will not get any more of my money when Logan’s is just next door.
It was crap, and it wasn't in under 5 minutes. I was going to give you, the owner, a pass on this but it seems you really don't give a ****. I ate the food and I'll pay, not happily but that's the way most of your non-returning customers behave.
It is a shame, you have a pretty good concept but you are hindered by your friends and family trying hard not to hurt your feelings. If they would be honest with you, you might have time to make the changes necessary to be successful. Right now, the service and the quality of your food will ensure you fail within nine months if you don't do something now.
I come from a family with successful restaurant experience. They sell a burger for only one dollar more than you in a higher COL area. The meat is ground fresh, the rolls are baked in house and the fries cut that day and cooked to order. So I know good food can be produced at a reasonable price. You have neither.
No, I didn't say I was the ONLY one who is honest. There are others quite dissatisfied with their meals as well. No, I do not own a rival reataurant, I only stated I had family with restaurants (>1k miles away). I have no interest in seeing this fail, it is a great concept but unless changes are made, it will.
I am glad some like it, but the quality of food will not sustain it past a core clientele. Again, once the novelty wears off the only things that keeps people coming back arefreshness and value.
Yes Gus you heard right. It was awesome. It was the first my husband has ate there and he was impressed. That's not an easy thing to do. He's a pretty good cook. I've been eating at Fatboys since they started delivering. I have never been dissapointed. The portions are huge. Everyone at work loves it when I eat lunch there because they know somebody's going to get my left overs. Shoals Diner, maybe you should step out of the box and try something besides their awesome burgers.
