In Telling Move, Feinstein Advocates To Seal Results Of FBI Investigation As Case Against Kavanaugh Dissolves
The Democrats have a hard time keeping their cards close to their chest.
They’ve spent the last several weeks happily playing into a narrative of Judge Brett Kavanaugh that is based entirely on unreliable, easily discredited testimony, openly admitting they believe his accusers after swearing up and down for months they’d do anything they could to stop his confirmation.
Despite the fact that every claim against him is an allegation, and they’re all poorly-supported allegations at that, they’ve had no problem publically discussing every single outrageous detail of said allegations as if they were set-in-stone fact.
So when Republicans agreed to a limited FBI investigation into the claims made against Kavanaugh, and suddenly Democrats want the results sealed, it’s hard not to see what’s going on: they’ve got nothing.
.@SenFeinstein indicates that the FBI report on Kavanaugh should NOT be made public: “It would seem to me that if people are going to be identified this ought to be held very close and not."
"I think the investigation ought to be closely held," she reiterated.

In a tweet, CNN reporter Elizabeth Landers revealed that Sen. Dianne Feinstein “indicates that the FBI report on Kavanaugh should NOT be made public: ‘It would seem to me that if people are going to be identified this ought to be held very close and not. I think the investigation ought to be closely held,’ she (Feinstein) reiterated.”
This is of course a stark contrast to Feinstein’s previous behavior towards Kavanaugh’s allegations, considering that it was her office that likely leaked Dr. Christine Ford’s letter to the public in the first place.
She also seemed unconcerned about discretion when she spoke publically about the other questionable claims made against Kavanaugh, giving them full heed as if they were reliable.
According to a recent CNN report, Feinstein has insisted the FBI keep her abreast of everyone they are interviewing as part of their investigation, and said, “And of course, it would be given to us on a classified basis but at least we would know.”
When asked if she believes the public will be able to trust the conclusions made by the bureau’s investigation, she said “Well, let’s see … I can’t say because I don’t know what the investigation will say.”
Feinstein isn’t the only Democrat insisting the results of the FBI probe be kept quiet; the same CNN report revealed that Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware shares her sentiment.
“I think that the work product of the FBI should be kept confidential to the Senate, but all senators should be able to review it,”Coons told the outlet.
Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware.
“I think that the work product of the FBI should be kept confidential to the Senate, but all senators should be able to review it,” Coons told reporters.
“That’s typically what’s the case in any background investigation, the FBI delivers investigatory work — facts, not conclusions — and then senators review those files. But those are committee confidential files typically,” he explained.
Really? Wouldn’t it also have been “typical” for the committee to quietly review the allegations made against Kavanaugh before leaking the allegations to the public?
Not when you’re launching a coordinated, media-backed character assasination for political reasons, I guess.
The CNN article also speculates as to whether GOP Senators are also considering keeping the results of the FBI probe confidential; Sen. Lindsey Graham has called for its conclusion to be released publically while Sen. Mitch McConnell believes it should be kept confidential for the committee to review, as is protocol.
The Senate should do what is most ethical to give Kavanaugh a fair hearing; however, for Democrats to suddenly call for confidentiality and discretion after spending the last several weeks publically smearing Kavanaugh just gives away just what a coordinated effort to impugn his character this whole ridiculous circus really has been.
